I haven't taken many pictures lately, so my scrapbooking has slowed down a bit. However, I'm often in the mood to make cards!

Turning page kits into cards is simple with the use of the Idea Decks and Club Scrap's card making formulas. The cutaparts, ribbons and embellishments included in each page kit are a perfect addition to your cards.

Zest for Life Slimline Cards

I've always loved "slimline" cards - even before it was considered "cool". Therefore, I decided to focus on the newest trend when choosing to make cards from my Zest for Life Page kit.

I chose five different formulas from Club Scrap's (now extinct) Assembly Line Card Making Idea Decks Volume 1 and 2 to create 21 cards. (If you don't own the Idea Decks, you can find card making formulas available for download here.)

If you're not familiar with how Club Scrap's formulas work, each one has a "gather" list along with cutting diagrams to trim the papers to make cards. You'll find each of the five formulas, along with a list of papers used, below.

Assembly Line Card Making Idea Deck - Volume 1

Four of Spades

Make two slimline cards from two 12x12 papers.

  • Lime Plain
  • Orange Print

Inking the edges of the Orange print adds dimension. Stamped sentiments, ribbon and a few embellishments complete each card.

Leaf ink and the Zest for Life Citrus stencil makes a sweet addition to the second card.

Four of Hearts

This formula is designed for 8.5x11” papers, however, if you use 12x12s instead, you'll actually get two bonus 3.5x5” cards. (Don't forget to check for grain direction.)

  • Light Yellow Plain
  • Orange Plain

Border and title strip-style cutaparts pair extremely well with the slimline card format. Simply trim them to fit the length of the card.

Eight of Hearts

This formula is also designed to work with 8.5x11 papers. As I mentioned earlier, if you begin by trimming each 12x12 at 8.5", you can turn the extra cut pieces into bonus cards. The result? Two slimline and two 3.5x5" cards.
