Create a beautifully blended background for the Magnolia laser cut flower. Tricia shared this idea with me and I knew I had to give it a try with this intricate embellishment. Be sure to browse your stash for other kits that included a similar laser cut goodie!
Laser Cut Flower - Blended Ink Background Tutorial
Trace the outline of the flower with pencil onto the center of a piece of card stock.
Cut around the shape with a craft knife to create a stencil.
Adhere a white panel to the back of the stencil with temporary adhesive or washi tape.
Turn over the panel and carefully blend inks within the stencil opening. (I chose Distress Inks blended with CS® Ink Applicator Brushes.)
Continue to blend inks until the desired effect is achieved.
Tip: Blend the ink carefully around the skinny areas of the stencil, as they tend to lift. (Cutting the stencil from thicker card stock/paper helps avoid the "lifting" issue.
Carefully remove the panel from the back of the stencil to reveal the inked image. Apply Bookbinding Glue from a Needle-tipped Applicator to the back of the laser cut flower.
Position the flower over the inked area. Press gently over the petals to ensure proper adhesion.
Trim off the excess laser cut overhanging the edge of the panel. Stamp a sentiment with Ocean Ink. Embellish the panel with tiny butterflies (from the Legacy collection).
