There are many different ways to create depth with inks, but my favorite is a super simple masking technique -- Inked Shadows.

Inked Shadows Technique

Add a variety of ink colors to the Tapestry medallion image and stamp it multiple times onto a white panel. Tip: Begin inking the stamp with the lightest color and en with the darkest color to avoid contaminating the ink pad surfaces.

Stamp the medallion onto text weight paper and fussy cut with scissors to create a mask. Lay the mask over the medallion images and carefully add color around the perimeter to create shadows.

Trim the art panel and add it to a greeting card, layout, or project.

I couldn't stop there! I chose another color palette and created this background for a Sea Breeze inspired card.
