Back in June, Tricia designed the Explorer's Journal project as a goodie for the National Parks Deluxe kit. The original version is a cool paper bag journal with a really unique stitched binding. Since some folks found that binding a bit daunting, she also created the Explorer's Journal version 2.0, changing up the construction a bit and adding a simpler binding.

Today I'm pleased to introduce the Explorer's Journal version 2.1! I picked up a 7-pack of Heavy Duty Paper Bags and followed Tricia's blog post instructions. I paired the bags with papers and embellishments from the Big Top Lite kit, along with a few other trinkets from the Big Top collection.

Here's how I customized my Explorer's Journal:

Decorate the cover with Lite Cutaparts, one of the Lite Elephant Buttons, and Striped Washi Tape.

Add hot pink satin ribbon from the Big Top Fiber pack beneath the center stitches to add a bit more stability to the spine.

Use pairs of Lite Show Tickets to create tab dividers for the 5.75 x 7" short pocket inserts.

Add assorted die cut shapes decorated with Cutaparts and/or stamped images to the short inside pages.

Use an Ink Applicator, India Ink and the Lite Circus Stencil to decorate several pages.
