Transform the Sea Life collection into a gorgeous handmade photo album! Learn how to create a 6.5x9" book with three interactive sections, including two tri-folds, a center waterfall photo display, and a pocket with a removable booklet insert.
Tricia just announced the re-release of a very popular project from the past: the Triple Panel Book. We're offering a newly updated Components Kit which includes a four-page printed instructions document and a brand new video tutorial.
The finished book measures 6.5x9" and features a unique magnetic clasp closure.
Sea Life Triple Panel Book
Supplies
To get started, gather a Sea Life Page Kit and the Triple Panel Book Components.
The Components kit includes the following:
- (3) 12x12 Black Folding Board
- Magnetic Clasp Hardware
- (2) Sets Magnetic Discs
- Hook and Loop Dot Set
- 4-page Printed Instructions (with link to the video tutorial)
You'll also need a few other basic tools and supplies, as outlined in the instructions document.
Trimming and Assembly
If you're interested in reproducing Tricia's finished book, follow the paper assignments below:
- Paper A = White
- Paper B = Purple
- Paper C = Dk. Blue
- Paper D = Lt. Blue
- Paper E/F = Turtle Print, Shell Print
Cut and sort the papers. Construct the book using the instructions and video tutorial to guide you. Once the book is fully assembled, utilize left over papers (Pocket D) and any remaining uncut 12x12 papers to decorate the book covers, trifold pages, waterfall pages and the accordion booklet insert.
Front Cover
The front cover prominently features our friendly sea turtle.
Tricia chose to accent the front cover with a sentiment cutapart.
Right Outside Cover
When the book is first opened, the right "outside" cover with the magnetic closure is visible, so why not take the opportunity to embellish this space?
Nest the "fish" portion of the Turtle Print onto a White Panel. Mat a tag cutapart with a Dk Blue remnant, create an opening at the top with a Slot Punch, and add a loop of that gorgeous blue metallic ribbon.
Left Inside Panel—Trifold Pages
The left side panel features two tri-fold pages. Rather than having the short flap on the left top of each trifold page, Tricia opted to keep the wider flap on the left. Trim Shell Print panels, mat with Dk. Blue and nest onto the front flaps. Die cut Lt. Blue scraps with a 1.5" stitched circle die and top with Turtle Gems to create a place to easily "grab" the flap to open it.
Decorate the inside of each trifold page with Shell Print panels, cutaparts and fussy cut artwork.
Center Panel—Waterfall Photo Pages
The center panel features waterfall panels to house up to 20 photos.
The "top" waterfall page is decorated with an altered border strip and fish cutapart mat with a black folding board scrap.
The back side of the waterfall pages are a blank canvas—in lieu of photos, add printed panels and cutaparts to select pages as desired.
Right Inside Cover—Pocket with Removable Accordion Booklet
The right side panel features a pocket with a tab closure. The pocket is home to a removable booklet.
Before adding the hook and loop dot closure, add a 3.75x5.57" Shell Print panel to the front of the pocket.
Dress up the pocket flap, too: Trim scraps to create a 2.25x5.25 print panel and a 2.5x5.5" white mat. Round two corners at one short end of each; center onto the pocket flap.
Accordion Booklet Insert
Open the pocket flap to reveal a six page accordion-folded booklet.
Decorate both sides of each page with trimmed panels, pre-cut photo mats, cutaparts and other embellishments.
