Create a beautiful and useful handmade photo album when you pair the Triple Panel Book Components kit with a Black Tie Page Kit.
We recently re-released the ever popular Triple Panel Book Components with updated instructions. The printed document includes a link to the video tutorial where Tricia expertly guides you through the trimming, sorting and assembly process.
Black Tie Triple Panel Book
To get started, gather a Black Tie Page Kit and the Triple Panel Book Components in Black.
If you're interested in replicating my finished book, utilize the following paper assignments:
- Paper A = Gold
- Paper B = Cream Speckle
- Paper C = Ivory
- Paper D = Black
- Paper E/F = (2) Chevron Prints
Paper scraps left over from the trimming process, as well as the remaining uncut 12x12 papers, can be trimmed to decorate the book covers, trifold pages, waterfall pages and the accordion booklet insert.
Book Cover
Trim the 8.5x11 Black Velvet Paper horizontally at 5.5". Cut the 5.5x8.5 at 8.25". Nest the velvet paper onto the 5.5x8.75 Gold outside panel to create the cover.
Center and adhere the "Elegance" sentiment to the top portion of the 4x6 cutapart panel. Cut two equal lengths of Gold-edged Ivory Satin ribbon slightly wider than the 4x6 cutapart. Interlock the ribbons and wrap the ends to the back to create a "double-looped bow" in the lower third of the panel (see minute 17.:36 of Tricia's 13 Ribbon Techniques video for details). Thread Gold Cord through the jump ring on a Gold Tassel and tie it onto the looped ribbons. Adhere an Emerald Rhinestone to each corner of the 3x3 sentiment with Bookbinding Glue in a needle-tipped applicator.
Right Outside Cover
When the book is first opened, the right "outside" cover with the magnetic closure is visible, so why not take the opportunity to embellish this space?
Crop the 7.5x12 Ivory/Paper C (left over from step #9 in the instructions) to 6.25x8.75". Create an opening for the magnet closure with a 3/4" circle punch; center and adhere the panel.
Trim the 3x12 journaling prompt and 1/2" border strip cutaparts to 8.75". Position the 3" strip near the left edge of the Ivory panel. Adhere the 1/2" border strip flush with the journaling prompt. Add an Emerald Rhinestone to each side of the word "memories".
Left Inside Panel—Trifold Pages
The left side panel features two tri-fold pages. Rather than having the short flap on the left top of each trifold page, I opted to keep the wider flap on the left. This allowed me to showcase larger sentiment cutaparts on the front.
Decorate the inside of each trifold page with Diamond Print panels and black scraps.
Center Panel—Waterfall Photo Pages
The center panel features waterfall panels to house up to 20 photos.The "top" waterfall page is decorated with a 3.75x5.75" Diamond Print panel and sentiment cutapart.
The back side of the waterfall pages are a blank canvas—in lieu of photos, add printed cutaparts to select pages as desired.
Right Inside Cover—Pocket with Removable Accordion Booklet
The right side panel features a pocket with a tab closure. The pocket is home to a removable booklet.
Before adding the hook and loop dot closure, add a 3.75x5.57" Diamond Print panel to the front of the pocket. Trim an Ivory scrap to create a 2.5x5.5 panel. Round two corners at one short end. Create an opening for the Black and Gold grosgrain ribbon on the tag cutapart with a Slot Punch. Thread the ribbon through and wrap the ends around to the back side of the Ivory panel, center onto the pocket flap.
Accordion Booklet Insert
Open the pocket flap to reveal a six page accordion-folded booklet. Decorate both sides of each page with panels, pre-cut photo mats, cutaparts and other embellishments.
