Last week I gave a brief overview of the workshops taught at Retreat. Well, that quick peek doesn't even begin to do these projects justice, so I thought I'd share a few more details about each one today. (Warning: Long post with TONS of photos!)
TWINCHIE ALBUM
The first workshop of Retreat weekend was Thursday night after dinner.
I had the pleasure of leading the Twinchie Album workshop, while Tricia, Kay, Jac, Ron and Terri were on hand to assist the large group as needed.
Our Retreat guests participated in a Twinchie Swap as a way to meet their fellow attendees, so this album was the perfect way to store and display the mini works of art.
For the remainder of the weekend, guests were split into two smaller groups for workshops. Friday morning, attendees enjoyed classes by Kay and Terri.
POP-UP BOX
Kay's Pop-up Box workshop was a super-cool and very unique box featuring a pop-up mechanism inside and a clever sleeve for storage.
The box is constructed from durable book board and then wrapped in special papers designed just for this project. The finished box measures approximately 5.25 x 7.25 inches.
The pop-up can display a wallet-sized photo, mini album or even Artist Trading Cards. The inside of each overlapping cover features a pocket for even more decorative and storage potential.
There are three different options available, each option features a different paper print for wrapping the box: Seed Packet, Newsprint and Floral.

CHEST OF DRAWERS
Terri's workshop was all about beautiful but functional organization. Her Chest of Drawers project is constructed of sturdy book board wrapped in fun and funky papers designed by Terri.
The chest features slider rails for five separate plastic storage containers that act as "drawers" for the unit. It's the perfect way to store all those "smalls" like brads, eyelets, buttons and more.
There's even a separate section on top of the unit for storing larger items.
After lunch, Retreaters reassembled for classes taught by Tricia and me. Half of the group took Tricia's Twin Tags workshop. The other group created covers for their Art Journal projects.
TWIN TAGS
The Twin Tags Workshop was all about learning new techniques.
Guests experimented with the Gel Plate, stencils, masks and different mediums to create pairs of tags, using both positive and negative impressions of artwork.
Finished tags can be trimmed and used to create one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork to hang on your wall, to use on cards, pages or other projects.
ART JOURNAL
The Art Journal Workshop was taught in two parts.
I got to teach "Part One" which was creating the personalized journal covers from scratch using book board, silver flashing tape and a variety of three dimensional embellishments.
Each attendee had the opportunity to custom-design the front cover of their book. It was awesome to see the wide variety of looks achieved even though we all used the same materials. Creativity at its best!
On Saturday afternoon, guests went through "Part Two" of the Art Journal workshop to complete the stitching portion of the design taught with great patience by Ron and Tricia. I just love the way the stitched spines turned out!
IRRESISTIBLE
In Jac's Irresistible workshop, attendees enjoyed another great technique-driven class where they played with Club Scrap's new Watermark Ink Pad, Pan Pastels, stamps and stencils to create beautiful works of art.
The finished artwork was then turned into scrapbook pages and cards that were simply "Irresistible"! (See what I did there?)
DIGITAL HYBRID
As you can imagine, by the time Retreaters get to Saturday night they tend to be a bit creatively "over-stimulated", so we make the last workshop pretty low-key (but still very cool).
Pretty awesome, eh? But that isn't all folks! Be sure to stop back tomorrow and I'll share even more of the goodness our Retreat and "Retreat in a Box" guests experienced this year. See you tomorrow!
