After creating a dozen cards with the Stained Glass card kit instructions, Tricia had six sheets of paper left over from the Splash Page kit. She challenged me to make additional cards using those remaining supplies.
Splash Cards
To get started, purchase and download the 6 in 60 Card Formula - Wine Time. Next, gather the Materials and Tools listed on the document—I used the six sheets of paper left over from the Splash kit.
To duplicate my cards, utilize the following paper assignments:
- Paper A = Palm Tree Print
- Paper B = Lime
- Paper C = Blue
- Paper D = Fuchsia
- Print = Hibiscus Print
- Cutapart = White
Set A—Two 4.25x5.5" Single-fold Cards
Since the prints in this collection are pretty bold, and the Palm Tree Print was trimmed to create card bases, I reversed the fold on the left card to avoid placing a print onto a print. Now the pretty artwork is on the inside, making it a fun surprise when the recipient opens the card.
Stamp the sentiment onto the designated panel with India ink. Grab an unused cutapart panel and add the hat image with Ocean ink. Fussy cut the image and apply Ocean to the entire image with an Ink Applicator Brush. Adhere to the card with foam adhesive.
Set B—Two 4.5x6.25" Split Flap Cards
Add the sentiments to their designated panels. Stamp "Congrats" onto a white scrap and add to the inside of the card. Apply India ink to the sunglasses image and stamp onto another scrap. Fussy cut and adhere with foam adhesive.
Set C—Two 5x7 Vertical Hinge Cards
Rather than reverse the fold on the Palm Tree Print card, I relocated the nesting panels (intended for the front of the card) to the inside. That way, the print really shines on the exterior, and the recipient will see a fun pop of color waiting inside the card.
Stamp the sentiment with India ink, and add the swirl image with Fuchsia.
Two Bonus Cards
After I trimmed all of the paper according to the 6 in 60 Card Formula instructions, a small batch of narrow scraps remained. Create two "scrappy" card panels when you pair the leftover strips with double-sided adhesive sheets* (or a giant roll of double-sided adhesive*).
Start by trimming the 8.5x11 double-sided adhesive sheet into four equal 4.25x5.5" sections. These will serve as the "base" for creating the scrappy panels.
Next, prepare two card bases. Cut one sheet of 8.5x11 Super Smooth White paper in half vertically at 4.25". Fold each 4.25x11" in half to create two card bases. Note: Always follow the grain direction of the paper; different coordinating plain papers may require you cut horizontally at 5.5".
Scrappy Card #1
Remove the backing from one side of a 4.25x5.5" adhesive panel and place it onto a work surface, sticky side up. Add strips to the adhesive surface on the diagonal, repeating until the entire surface is covered. Remove the excess paper from the perimeter with scissors.
Add "Congrats" to the panel with India ink. Place the panel into a paper trimmer; cut approximately 1/8" from all four sides, or to the finished size of 4x5.25". Remove the backing, carefully center the panel sticky-side down, onto a prepared plain white card base.
Scrappy Card #2
Remove the backing from one side of a second panel, as described above. Start by adding a white rectangle to the center. Place printed and plain strips onto the sticky surface, "framing" the rectangle in a herringbone pattern. Trim the excess paper from the perimeter with scissors.
Trim the panel to 4x5.25". Stamp the sentiment onto the plain white center with India ink. Apply Fuchsia ink to the flip-flop image and stamp onto a scrap. Fussy cut the image and add to the panel with foam adhesive.
Remove the backing and carefully center the panel onto a prepared plain white card base.
