Welcome! When I saw the new U-Hinge project I knew I had to give it a try. Wishes is one of my favorite releases this year, and paired with the Steel Gray Folding Board it was a match made in heaven! If you too would like to create a beautiful handmade book keepsake with the Wishes collection, keep following along!
Wishes 9x9 U-Hinge Book
The 9x9 U-Hinge Book gets it name from -- you guessed it! The clever binding structure we all know and love as Club Scrap project enthusiasts. This project is unique as it features a 1/8 inch hinge instead of our typical 1/4 inch. Don't let that intimidate you, though! Tricia shares all of her helpful tips in the workshop video.
Materials and Supplies

- 9x9 U-Hinge Book Online Class
- Wishes Page Kit
- (2) Folding Board (Steel Gray in this project example)
- CS® Bookbinding Glue
- Needle-tipped Applicator
- 12” Paper Trimmer*
- 3x14" Grid Ruler
- Scor Pal 1/8s
- Bone Folder
- Adhesive (My preference! Use what you like 😊)
- Scissors*
- Pencil
Embellishment
Below is what I personally used to "gild the lily" on this project. Of course, you can always use whatever you want to make it your own, which I encourage!

Assembly & Decor
Follow along with Tricia in the workshop video and written instructions to construct the base of your handmade album. This is such a fun size to work with if you haven't already!
Cover Details
For the cover, I took cues from how Tricia decorated her Rustique version and trimmed one of the 12" cutaparts to fit. I enjoy the subtle Ivory in the background with the pop of yellow matted behind the sentiment.
Inside Pages
I faux-stitched the buttons onto the page by looping the jute through the holes and securing it with a tiny piece of tape on the back. I then applied the buttons to the page with bookbinding glue. Sneaky, sneaky!
Wrap Up
I hope you enjoyed touring my Wishes handmade book! This was such a fun project to do and I love how it all came together in the end. If you haven't worked with this 9x9" size yet, I recommend you give it a try! This project is the perfect opportunity to do so.
