With the help of our 9x9 U-Hinge Book online class, it's easy to transform any CS® Page kit and two sheets of Folding Board into a lovely handmade album. The 16-page book features Club Scrap's unique U-hinge binding and it's handy size makes it perfectly portable.
Wags and Whiskers 9x9 U-Hinge Book
The earthy hues and whimsical artwork of the Wags and Whiskers collection provides a fun backdrop for photos of my grand dog, Millie Maye.
To get started, gather a Wags and Whiskers Dog Page Kit and two 12x12 Black Folding Board. Next, purchase and download the 9x9 U-Hinge Book instructions.
If you'd like to make a book similar to mine, utilize the following paper substitutions when sorting and trimming your papers:
- Paper A, B = Lt. Brown, Blue
- Paper C, D = Dk. Brown, Orange
- Paper E = Paw Print
- Paper F = Plaid Print
Because this collection is a special release, you'll have four sheets of paper left over to create a dozen 4.25x6.25" photo mats: (2) Cream Speckle, Blue, and Lt. Brown. I repeated the same cuts with the one remaining Paw Print.
Follow the instructions and video tutorial provided in the online class to assemble the book structure. Tricia's expert guidance makes it easy and fun. After assembly, use the remaining paper and embellishments to decorate the book as desired.
Book Cover
Select and trim two Blue scraps to accompany the Paw Print for the front and back covers. Mat the cutapart sentiment with Cream Speckle and Orange mats. Thread a bit of Blue Jute through the Paw Charm, tie into a bow, and adhere to the cutapart with Bookbinding Glue.
Inside Pages
The unique U-Hinge binding allows plenty of space so you can be extra generous as you add photos and embellishments to the pages.
Treat the inside front and back covers like extra pages; add mats, cutaparts and embellishments as desired.
I've filled the book with as many photos of Millie as I could get my hands on, but the final few pages have space for Max and EJ to add more in the future.
I'll add Millie's name to the Bone Woodcut (inked with Earth) before I give the album to my son and daughter-in-law.
All the 3x12 and 2.75x12" scraps can be easily transformed into mini mats or nesting panels for cutapart artwork, sentiments, and journaling prompts.
In many cases, I chose to crop a single photo to span across two smaller mats. Fussy-cut the artwork from border strip cutaparts to better fit the 9" pages.
A plain Orange scrap, cut with alphabet dies, creates a page title.
The finished book turned out super cute! I hope my son and daughter-in-law enjoy it for years to come.
