Hello Club Scrappers!
Thank you for taking the time to tune into my first (ever) blog post, and even more so for the warm welcome to the Club Scrap family! It has been such a pleasure to work with you all to help document your lives from big moments to everyday shenanigans.
I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself: Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a born and raised Wisconsinite, daughter, sister, twin, aunt of five wonderful nieces, fiancée (eek!), and cat mom. I've always been drawn to creative endeavors my whole life, specifically paper crafting, junk journaling, journaling, memory keeping, and documenting life from the wildest of trips to the mundane.
Before joining the team here at Club Scrap, I've worked with all kinds of pets from furry, feathered, and even scaly! I have dedicated a large portion of my life so far to animals, and recently earned my bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls for Companion Animal Science. Just like how I've always been drawn to crafting, animals have always been a huge part of my life from day one.
Which leads us into the first project I'd love to share with you! It's no secret that our pets never stay as long as we would like them to. What better way to remember their silly antics than with the 6x6 MEMBER Album using the Wags and Whiskers collection, a combination of my two greatest passions in life: cats and crafting.
Wags and Whiskers 6x6 MEMBER Album
The MEMBER Album, or the "Most Efficient Mini Book Ever Released", is just that! No matter the theme, event, or layout, this project is a great, simple book to document moments big and small. This project also makes a great, compact gift! Better yet, you only need one (1) CS® Page Kit and one (1) sheet of folding board. That's it!
Materials and Supplies
To recreate this project, gather the following supplies and tools:
- MEMBER Album Online Class
- Wags and Whiskers Cat Page Kit (or Page Kit of your choice)
- Kraft Folding Board
- CS® Bookbinding Glue
- Needle-tipped Applicator
- 12” Paper Trimmer*
- 3x14" Grid Ruler
- Scor Pal 1/8s
- Accordion Pocket File Starter Kit (or Premade!)
- Bone Folder
- Pencil
- Scissors
Paper Assignments
- Paper A: Dark Brown
- Paper B: Blue
- Paper C: Cream Speckle
- Paper D: Orange
- Paper F: Plaid Print (Inside print)
- Paper E: Paw Print (Cover print)
Tip: Be mindful of what print is your cover versus the inside pages. Paper F is your inside prints, and Paper E is your outside/cover prints. I totally didn't have to recut them... totally...
Assembly and Decor
Follow along with Tricia in the workshop video and written instructions to construct the base of your MEMBER Album. This is a great introduction to the U-hinge structure, which is the magic that makes this book and what allows you to fit so many memories in a cute, compact album!
Cover Details
The cover features the Cat Woodcut that I painted to resemble my cat Touhy (pronounced too-ee), completed with a mini collar using black cord from my stash, and a Nantucket Mini Star Charm. He wears a star shaped ID tag so it was a match made in heaven!
Inside Pages
Everyone meet Touhy! Since adopting him from a local shelter last May he has been the center of our world ever since he stretched out his paw to my fiancé, Jonathan. The name comes from East Touhy Avenue in Chicago where my fiancé went to college, and we always thought it would make a cute kitty name! Here I added the date we adopted him and just a few of his nicknames.
Each third page opens up to display more photos and embellishments. The page size is 5.75"x5.75" and opens up to 12" if not more!
This is where the beauty of the U-hinge structure comes into play, allowing you to fit the trifold, photos, and embellishments while maintaining the structure of the book. No alligator mouths here! And that is coming from someone who has a tendency to pack their books full...
I was able to fit 34 photos in the small but mighty 6x6 MEMBER Album! Touhy was a Vienna Beef Chicago Dog for his first Halloween with us. 
Our first Christmas with Touhy! Of course he was the star of our holiday cards, and got his very own stocking and presents under the tree from Santa Paws.
Touhy's fourth birthday and first "gotcha" day with us. Yes, I did make him a birthday cake for his special day. This day was actually the day we got home from our trip to Door County after getting engaged!
One way I love to add extra photos into my projects is via the Instax Mini Link* printer. Think polaroid camera, but as a printer from your phone!
Touhy loves to "help" with my creative endeavors...
The pockets in the front and back are perfect spots to store extra photos and ephemera!
Wrap Up
That's a wrap on this purr-fect little project highlighting my favorite little guy <3. I adore the size of this book, and how it feels in the hand when it's fully completed with photos and embellishments. It even stands up on its own, which makes it great to display on a shelf or bookcase. I promise you will not regret taking on this project, and it works beautifully with any Club Scrap Page Kit!
I already have plans to make more of these nifty little books in which I hope to share with you in the near future. I encourage you all to give the MEMBER Album a try!
