Welcome! Continue reading to learn how I transformed the Wags And Whiskers Dog Page Kit into an adorable gift with the Easy Eight Album Components.
Hello all!
I'm going to start off by being totally transparent: the Easy Eight Album intimidated me. How in the world are you supposed to get holes through the book board? What do you mean the Crop-a-Dile* can punch through!? I wasn't convinced until I tried it for myself. And y'all, I was impressed at how easy it actually was. I have never used a Crop-a-Dile* prior to this project, so I was totally new to the tool. Now I must add one to my tool bag.
It's no secret that animals play a huge role in my life. If you tuned into my first blog post you will have learned just how much companion animals mean to me. I've worked with dogs for quite some time and while I myself am not ready for one of my own quite yet, I knew I wanted to create a project using the dog version from Club Scrap's Wags and Whiskers collection.
Enter: Mya. My brother and sister-in-law's goofy boxer pup who is bound to make you smile with her personality and oh so squishy, expressive face.
Wags and Whiskers Easy Eight Album

The Easy Eight Album houses eight 11x8.5" pages (10 if you count the front and back of the first and last page respectively). Since this album is bound with three binder rings, you can always add more pages to the album giving you the flexibility to expand!
This was my first time working with the 11x8.5" size for something like this and it was a nice challenge! It makes you think about your pages differently.

Follow along with Tricia in the workshop video as she constructs the Easy Eight Album. It is definitely worth the watch (as is every video 😉) as she gives helpful pointers about decorating your inner pages!
Cover Details

For the Bone Woodcut, I tried my hand at a paint wash to give it a more wooden look. I was thrilled with how it shows off the woodgrain I got in mine! To do this, make a 2:1 ratio of water and brown acrylic paint. Wet the woodcut with regular water, then coat the woodcut following the grain using the paint wash. Gently wipe with a paper towel to remove any excess wash. I kept doing layers until I was happy with the outcome. Letting it sit allows more time for the paint to soak in resulting in a deeper color. It took me a little bit of experimenting with the mixture, but I am happy with how it turned out. It ended up looking just like a dog biscuit too!
To tie it all together I used my Cricut and some gold vinyl to add the pup's name to the woodcut.
Inside Pages
Between Tricia's help in the instructional video, as well as analyzing the other wonderful Easy Eight Albums on display in the lobby, it didn't take long for the pages to come together.
Bonus Page A
The first and last pages are double-sided resulting in a bonus page to start and end the album. Of course you can always add extra paper and/or more 11x8.5" page protectors to expand your album. You could also make every page front and back to stretch the paper in the album as well. The world paper is your oyster!

I used Foam Adhesive Circles occasionally throughout the album to give the pages more dimension, as well as allowing the text sentiments to overlap the mats—I made sure the adhesive covered only a portion of the back of the sentiments to allow photos to slide underneath. The round cutapart sentiment and mat were created using a stitched circle die*
Layouts 7 and 8
I enjoyed using the Slot Punch and Mini Stapler* to add ribbon to the tag cutaparts.

Wrap Up
Thank you for taking a closer look at my Wags and Whiskers Dog Easy Eight Album featuring Miss Mya! I hope that her goofy personality gave you a smile. At first I wasn't sure what to think of this project, but I am so glad I went outside of my comfort zone to give this one a try! I encourage you to do the same with this project and any Page Kit from Club Scrap!
Happy Crafting,
Emily
