Learn to make faux tin tiles to embellish your Tunisian Tiles pages. Follow the July Bonus Formula to create the layout, then add stamped tiles to nest perfectly onto the small square mats.
Tunisian Tiles Bonus Formula
Gather five 12x12" plain papers from the July collection as indicated in the Bonus Formula. I utilized the following paper assignments: Aqua (Paper A), Red (Paper B), Blue (Paper C), and two Yellow (Paper D) serve as the base for the layout.
Trimming
Trim and sort the 12x12" papers.
Once the trimming is complete, refer to the sketch to dry fit the pieces.
Faux Tin Tiles Tutorial
Place a white panel onto the sticky side of a length of double-sided adhesive tape*.
Trim excess adhesive with scissors.
Remove the backing from the adhesive.
Place the panel onto aluminum foil, adhesive side down.
Trim the panel with a paper trimmer to remove excess foil.
Stamp the small tile image onto the foil side of the panel six times, once each with Red, Sapphire, Lagoon, and Yellow Ink.
Heat set the panel to ensure the ink is completely dry before moving on to the next step.
Once dry, fussy cut the tiles with scissors.
Center five faux tiles onto the square mats on the right side of the layout.
Add the sixth tile next to the Aqua photo mats on the left side of the layout.
Final Layout Assembly Tips
Position the larger panels onto the background papers with the help of a 3x14" acrylic ruler. TIP: If the measurement is larger than 3", "stack" with the 2x8" ruler, or a second 3x14 if you have one..
Trim Yellow and Red ribbons into 14" lengths. Nest onto the Blue border strip.
Wrap the ends around to the back of the page and secure with clear tape.
Wrap Yellow ribbon around the Red photo mat on the bottom of the right page. Secure the ends on the back with clear tape. Tie a second length of Yellow ribbon into a "loosely tied" knot, and insert a small piece of Red ribbon through the knot.
Pull the knot tight to trap the Red ribbon inside. Trim the ends of each ribbon at an angle, if desired. Note: A photo can be slid easily beneath the ribbon during final page assembly.
Add Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator to the back of two Small Silver Medallions.
Adhere to the left side of the layout. Place a heavy object on the medallions and allow to dry.
Repeat the process for a third medallion on the right side of the layout. Add journalling guidelines beneath the medallion with a 2x8" acrylic ruler and pencil.
Before cropping photos, test fit them over each photo mat to ensure proper placement.
Finally, crop the photos to size and adhere. Add journaling.
