Here's a quick visual tour of what you'll find in the Splash collection.
Let's take a closer look at the eight pages you'll make when you follow the printable instructions included with purchase (sent via separate email when the order is fulfilled). In addition, I'll guide you through the assembly process. A link to my video workshop is provided in the instructions document.
Layouts 1 & 2
I have a trick for using the adorable drink umbrellas. Obviously, they need to be flattened by snipping and removing the "stretchers" with scissors. I'll show you exactly how in the workshop video!
Why use just one ribbon color when you can use two! Simply trim a length of pink ribbon about 2" wider than the cutapart. Tie a piece of lime ribbon to the first, wrap around the cutapart, and secure with tape. (If you tape the ribbon prior to adding the 2nd ribbon, it could cause the cutapart to pucker. Try taping one end to the cutapart and the other to your work surface to hold the ribbon while tying.)
Layouts 3 & 4
It's another fun "mini collage"! Tear away the outside edge of the circular printed cutapart and top with a fussy-cut heart and the puffy heart. Wrap the taffeta-edged light gray satin ribbon around the cutapart and add a twine bow to the center. Layer into the page with the die cut tag, square heart cutapart and "love" cutapart. Adorable!
Apply a thin layer of CS® Bookbinding Glue to the back of the silver sunglasses to attach. Works like a charm. (See what I did there?)
Now that you've got the double ribbon trick down, try it again! The sweet hibiscus charm will adhere easily with our bookbinding glue.
Layouts 5 & 6
I'll go into more detail about each embellishment and finishing touch in the workshop video. If you don't need guidance through the trimming process, simply use the chapter markers in the video to quickly find the layout pairing you're looking for.
Add a sweet row of evenly-spaced pink shell appliques to the bottom of the page with bookbinding glue.
Layouts 7 & 8
I thought it would be a cute addition to the 1.5" square "LOVE" cutapart. It turns out, Fiskars still carries the same set of deckle-edged scissors, even though I've had mine since the 90s.
If the tissue on the paper umbrella is damaged during flattening, you should be able to disguise imperfections with strategic placement behind the Cutapart.
Add a double looped bow to the cutapart and finish with the final white hibiscus charm added to the journaling prompt. (Grab a few extra charms, and make a pair of earrings!)
