Create fun and unique designs with the Scribble Stencil Technique.

I discovered this idea while exploring instagram a few months ago and shared it with Lisa. We both agreed we couldn't wait to try it with our vast collection of Club Scrap stencils. You have to use what you've got, right?

Scribble Stencil Tutorial

Gather Tombow markers* and any Club Scrap stencil with large openings. (I chose the balloon stencil from Hooray 10.22.) Use low-tack tape to mask off areas around the chosen stencil image, and to prevent the stencil from shifting.

Select markers to match your theme or color scheme. Begin to scribble with the lightest color marker - in this case, yellow.

Next, scribble a bit of orange through the stencil, being careful to avoid the yellow areas.

Finish the balloon image with the red marker. Remove the stencil to reveal the first image.

Remove any marker residue with a damp paper towel.

Continue to move the stencil around the panel to add more balloons in different shapes and color combinations.

Draw faux "strings" around the end of each balloon with a fine tip marker.

Stamp the sentiment with India Ink (Happy Life 01.25). Let's take a look at at the finished card.

I couldn't stop there, so I chose an older stencil set (Alphanumeric 2016) that needed some love. Scribble color through each letter; fussy cut with scissors.

Adhere the individual letters to the front of a card made with Happy Life papers and panels. The Blue Christmas sentiment paired perfectly with the word art.
