Create unique backgrounds for your cards, pages and more! Keep reading to learn how to combine embossing folders, stencils and inks to achieve dramatic effects on paper.

Lisa and I found this fun technique on social media and couldn't wait to share it! Grab your favorite embossing folders, inks and Club Scrap stencils to restock your "art orphan" stash.

Embossing Folders and Stencils - How To

Place a white panel into an embossing folder and run it through a die cut machine. Note: All machines are different, so be sure to check your machine's instructions manual for proper plate/sandwich combinations.

Position a stencil over the embossed panel and secure with removable tape. Apply ink through the stencil openings with an Ink Applicator Brush using a circular motion.

Carefully remove the stencil to reveal the stenciled image. I love how the raised edges of the embossed paper catch the ink and create a wonderful texture.

Play with different combinations of folders, ink colors and stencils.

The most dramatic results can be achieved when you pair white embossed panels with stencils that have larger openings.

Let's take a look at the finished card samples we created with this technique.

(The finished size of each card is 4.25x5.5", unless otherwise noted.)
