I love making handmade books, so I was super excited about the Classic Stitch Bound Book release earlier this week. Did you know you can use the same supplies to make a French Link Stitch Journal? The project instructions are now available for purchase in our hybrid store. Your purchase also includes a link to the video tutorial that will guide you through the entire process.
Introduced at Retreat 2018, the French Link Stitch Journal is one of my favorite book styles. The spine looks so "fancy", but it isn't as difficult to do as it looks.
You'll need the following supplies to make the journal:
- French Link Stitch Journal instructions download
- Any Club Scrap page kit
- (2) 8.5x11" sheets of coordinating book cloth
- Classic Stitch Bound Book Components
Between Tricia and I, we've made quite a few of these beauties. Let's explore them, shall we?
RETREAT CLASS KIT
The Retreat class kit sold out long ago, however, you can easily replicate the look with a dozen plain 12x12s in assorted colors and black book cloth.
STEAMWORKS
Tricia's journal made with the Steamworks collection is pure steampunk gorgeousness. Paired with the burgundy book cloth from the Classic set, it's a real stunner.
Visit my blog post for a closer look at both the Class version and Tricia's Steamworks journal.
DAFFODILS
Since gardening is my "other" favorite pastime, I paired gold book cloth from the Modern set with the Daffodils page kit to make a journal perfect for showcasing garden photos.
SEA BREEZE
The original Sea Breeze collection is extinct, however, you can create a similar journal using the Sea Breeze Remix page kit paired with green book cloth.
Use book board scraps to create a framed niche in the front cover for beach-related treasures.
Tour both the Sea Breeze and Daffodils journals on my personal blog.
WEDDING
Finally, when I found out Beth's daughter was getting married, I knew she'd want a brag book of sorts to show off the wedding photos. Pairing the Wedding special release kit with white book cloth was a no-brainer.
Visit my blog post for Wedding journal details.
With a bit of extra crafty time on our hands these days, there's never been a better time to learn a new skill. Master book binding with the help of our French Link Stitch Journal instructions!
Happy crafting!
