On October 17, Tricia taught the Gnome for Christmas Maze Book in a Box workshop. As with most of our projects, once the initial workshop is complete, it's easy to repurpose the instructions to make additional versions to suit any occasion or event.

Flower Power Maze Book in a Box

Make a clever Maze Book in an adorable storage box when you pair papers from your stash with the Flower Power stamp set.

To complete the project, gather the following supplies:

Maze Book in a Box Instructions
(4) 12x12 Plain Papers (from your stash)
(1) Light-colored 12x12 Plain for stamping (or printed Cutaparts)
12” Paper Trimmer
3x14" Grid Ruler
Bone Folder
ScorPal 1/8s (or other scoring tool)
Adhesive
Scissors

To replicate my book and box, use the following paper assignments: (2) Plain White (Paper A and Cutaparts), Surf Shop Aqua (Paper B), Flower Power Green (Paper C) and Orange (Paper D.)

Trim and score all of the papers according to Tricia's instructions, and then assemble the maze book and box.

If using stamps to decorate your project, trim a light-colored 12x12 Plain (White) following the cutting diagram for the Cutpapart (Step 5). Finally, stamp each panel as desired to embellish the covers and interior of the book and box.

Stamp the collage image to create the front cover of the box. Add color with pencils.

Adhere "oh, happy day!"(Typeset 3x12 Sentiment Strip) with Bookbinding Glue.

Stamp the peace sign (Ocean) and "peace" (India ink) onto a 3x4" white panel to line the box lid. Ink the collage image with India ink and stamp onto a second 3x4" panel to decorate the box base. Highlight the sun image with colored pencils.

For the front cover of the book, fussy cut butterfly images from a Mushroom Print scrap (left from another project).

Adhere the large butterfly with Bookbinding Glue, and the smaller with foam adhesive circles. Add the "life is good" sentiment.

Create a decorative panel by gluing narrow strips onto a plain white scrap. Trim to 2x3" and nest onto the back cover.

Stamp several 2.5x3.5" panels with art and sentiment combos. Adhere to select inside pages, leaving plenty of panels "blank" for matting photos.

The Maze Book in a Box is a quick and easy project that produces nearly instant (crafty) gratification. Make one for yourself as a keepsake to fill with photos or other memorabilia. It also makes a great gift for someone special.

The original Gnome for Christmas Maze Book in a Box is still available in very limited quantities. Once your holiday version is complete, recycle the instructions to make additional variations as gifts to fit any season or any reason.
