Make two gifts from a single page kit with the Petite Book Duo Online Class. I love this project because it's a "two-fer"—with the purchase of the downloadable instructions, you can make a pair of Cottage Garden mini books with the April Page Kit and a few other tools and supplies.
Cottage Garden Petite Book Duo
In addition to the supplies included in the kit, you'll need one 12x12 Mat Board and a few other basic tools.
Each book measures 4.75x5.25". The unique u-hinge spine structure features a 1/4" gap between pages to allow for expansion. You'll have plenty of room to load up the inner pages with photos and embellishments.
The biggest decision you'll need to make is whether you want your books to be "identical twins" or if you prefer the individual look of "fraternal twins".
Floral Book
I chose to make my books "fraternal" twins because I wanted to really showcase the two prints from the page kit. Because of that, I used slightly different paper selections for each book. To recreate the album with the floral cover, utilize the paper assignments below:
Paper A = Dk. Green
Paper B, C, D = Lt. Green, Dk. Green, Yellow
Paper E and F = Flower Print
Trim the papers and sort the cut pieces into an Accordion Pocket File. Follow the instructions and the video tutorial to assemble the book structure. After assembly of both albums is complete, use the remaining paper and embellishments to decorate each book as desired.
Cover the seam where the two papers meet with Pink Ribbon. Adhere the Organza Butterfly with Bookbinding Glue. Decorate the cover with a cutapart sentiment.
The inside of the book features six sets of trifold pages - with enough space to hold 24 or more photos.
Trim cutapart sentiments and border strips as needed to fit the dimensions of the inside pages.
Center the Window Envelope to the inside back cover and tuck trimmed cutapart artwork inside.
Cottage Album
To replicate the cottage album, utilize the paper assignments below:
Paper A = Pink
Paper B, C, D = Lt. Green, Pink, Yellow
Paper E and F = House Print
Cover the seam where the two papers meet with Pink Ribbon. Adhere the Organza Butterfly with Bookbinding Glue. I refrained from adding other embellishments so the little cottage on the cover could be the focal point.
I divided the precut photo mats from the page kit equally between the two books. Trim each mat to 4.25x4.75" to nest perfectly in the center of each trifold page.
Add a journaling prompt and a Window Envelope to the inside back cover.
