Do you remember those friendship necklaces from the 80s - the ones where you'd give one half and keep the other? How fun would it be to do that with a set of mini albums? This thought sparked the idea to pair the Petite Book Duo Online Class with the Besties page kit.
I love this project because it's a "two-fer" - with the purchase of the downloadable instructions, you can make TWO mini books from a single page kit.
Besties Petite Book Duo
In addition to the supplies included in the kit, you'll need one 12x12 Mat Board and a few other basic tools and supplies.
Each book measures 4.75x5.25". The unique u-hinge spine structure features a 1/4" gap between pages to allow for expansion. You'll have plenty of room to load up the inner pages with photos and embellishments.
To replicate my books, utilize the paper assignments below:
Paper A = Orange/Pink Duplex
Paper B, C, D = Black, White, Green
Paper E = Ombre Print
Paper F = Hourglass Print
Trim and sort the paper into an Accordion Pocket File. Follow the instructions (and/or the video tutorial) to assemble the book structure. After assembly, use the remaining paper and embellishments to decorate the book as desired.
Since the books are "twins" as far as construction is concerned, I decided to differentiate them with the spine and U-Hinge pieces: One book features Orange, the other Pink.
Book One
Decorate the cover with a cutapart sentiment. Add silver cord to the round charm, tie in a bow, and adhere with Bookbinding Glue. Create loops with the silver cord and adhere a green satin rosette on top, sandwiching the silver cord between the rosette and the book cover.
The inside of the book features six sets of trifold pages - with enough space to hold 24 or more photos.
Trim cutapart sentiments and border strips as needed to fit the dimensions of the inside pages.
Book Two
Choose a sentiment tag for the cover stapled with a length of pink checked ribbon. Adhere the BFF infinity charm and a green satin rosette to the cover with Bookbinding Glue.
Since the Besties kit is a special release, you'll have four sheets of 12x12 paper left over after trimming and assembly of the book structures is complete. Trim these papers to create photo mats and additional panels inside the flaps.
