The guest artist for August is Artist Team member Roni Johnson. When we posted a call for theme ideas last fall, she was one of many who suggested a "mermaid" themed collection. (Check your email--we sent the 2018 theme request earlier this week!)

Are you ready to "sea" Roni's amped up Greetings to Go cards?

LAGOON GUEST ARTIST CARDS

SET A: 3.5 x 6.5" LIGHT TEAL CARDS

Stamp and color seahorse and seaweed images (Jumbo UM). Fussy cut and adhere with dimensional adhesive onto matted mixed media art panel. Stamp bubbles to create background. Cutapart sentiment.

Stamp small seaweed (Art Nouveau UM) onto light teal base. Tear and adhere sandpaper to bottom of card. Stamp, color and fussy cut clownfish (Art Nouveau); attach with dimensional adhesive. Embellish with jewel stickers and shell sequins.

Add texture to white panel using an embossing folder. Die cut octopus from light teal plain. Embellish with dimensional jewels and Cutapart sentiment.

Use torn tape as a mask; blend inks into open area. Stamp with bubbles image (Art Nouveau). Remove masks, add mermaid silhouette (Greeting UM) images and Cutapart sentiment.

SET B: 4.25 x 5.5" SAND CARDS

Apply Earth ink to Castaway stencil to create background. Mat Cutapart with dark teal. Embellish with teal jewel stickers.

Die cut oval frames in a variety of sizes. Stamp mermaid silhouette onto inked background. Create a shaker card using foam tape; fill with sequins.

Score and fold sand card base to create a gatefold style opening. Mat Cutapart tied with baker's twine on dark teal plain. Attach to card front. Embellish interior with additional cutapart sentiment.

Create gatefold card as above. Mat interior of card with light teal plain. Use a strip of dark teal layered with burlap to create belly band closure. Stamp jar (Adirondacks Art Nouveau UM) onto white plain and translucent. Stamp small starfish (Lagoon Art Nouveau) onto sand, light teal and dark teal; fussy cut and sandwich between jar layers.

SET C: 4.5 x 6.25" WHITE CARDS

Use an embossing folder to add texture to a light teal panel. Ink the "wrong" side of the embossed area. Add stamped and colored mermaid tale and matted cutpart.

Stamp light teal panel with "bubbles" with white pigment ink. To create the mermaid tale, draw a basic tail shape free-hand on a scrap of card stock. Use a circle punch or die to cut lots of circles. Ink each circle with Teal Zeal or Bamboo Leaves Memento ink. Adhere circles to the drawn tale shape using Bookbinding glue; let dry. Accent "fins" with white gel pen and glitter for dimension.

Cover a light teal panel with Iridescent Blue Creative Medium. Rub in a bit of Hawaiian Blue StazOn ink over raised areas to highlight the texture.

Use embossing folder to add texture on white panel. Add "water" and "sand" by applying Fireworks! Spray (color and shimmer in one) with a brush. Create white "surf" by rubbing a bit of White Radiant Neon Amplify! medium over the blue areas; then heat. (Heating creates a puffy effect.) Fill a wet brush with dark brown watercolor and tap to add flecks over the sand for a speckled look.

I hope Roni's ex-SEA-lent cards inspire you to try some of the many ideas shared here.
