Page Sketch

So much more than just a "sketch", the February Page Formula creates a well-balanced two-page spread from five sheets of 12x12 paper. This month's layout has space for ten or more photos!
To get started, download the formula and gather the number of papers indicated. Trim and sort the cut pieces according to the step-by-step instructions. Finally, assemble the finished layout with the sketch as your guide. Once you're ready, add photos and embellishments—it's easy AND fun!
Black Tie Layout—Karen
To recreate the two-page spread below, gather the following papers from the Black Tie collection:
- Paper A = Card Print
- Paper B = Gold
- Paper C = Black
- Paper D = (2) Ivory

Once the trimmed elements are adhered to the base papers, it's time to add photos and embellishments. I removed the 3x4" Black mat from the left page to create space for the "Mr. & Mrs." woodcut.

Deconstruct a Tie the Knot Circle Wood Cut by carefully cutting at each of the attachment points with a mini utility knife* Gently sand the cut edges with a nail file* or fine grit sand paper. (Set the outer circle aside for another project.) Thoroughly ink the surface with India Black ink. Once dry, adhere to the layout with Bookbinding Glue in a needle-tipped applicator.

On the right page, crop a single vertical photo to span the space created by two of the three black mats.

Divide a single horizontal photo in half and crop each to fit the two gold mini mats at the top of the page.

Black Tie Pages—Tricia
Talk about serendipity! Tricia and I followed the same exact paper assignments—who'd have thought it? Even so, different photos and embellishments give each two page spread its own personality.
Heartfelt Bonus Pages
The beauty of our page formulas is the ability to recycle them with different papers and supplies to achieve a totally different look. I did just that by pairing the same February formula with a print the new Heartfelt collection and other papers from my stash.
To replicate this two page spread, utilize the paper assignments below:
- Paper A = Heartfelt Music Print
- Paper B = Freeway Blue (08.25)
- Paper C = Impressed Teal (11.25)
- Paper D = (2) Toile Lt. Blue (09.25)
When cutting Paper A, position the Music Print in the trimmer so the row of hearts runs vertically on the right side. Adhere the 5x12 at the top of the left page, and the 7x12 at the bottom of the right. Rearrange the cut elements on the right side as shown.

Center a length of Heartfelt Ribbon Trim to each border strip.

On the left, add a Love Woodcut with BBG, along with a fussy cut heart from the Page Kit Cutaparts attached with foam adhesive for dimension.

In lieu of the twin mats at the top of the right page, I used one to mat a small photo and topped it with a Heartstrings Frame Wood Cut. (Last year's Heartstrings woodcut is still available and it's a perfect match to this year's Heartfelt collection!) Add heart-shaped cutaparts with foam adhesive.

Create a beautiful two-page spread when you pair five coordinating sheets of paper with the February page formula. The trimming and assembly process takes only minutes, and the same instructions can be used again and again with supplies you already have on hand.
