I was inspired by Michael Strong's book titled "Paper Greenhouse" to make faux bamboo from the Transformations paper collection. My version of the technique flattens the bamboo stem, making the card "mailable" without extra postage.
Trim Transformations Plain Papers to the following sizes for the card base and panels: 7x10" Dk. Green (folded); 4-3/8x6-3/8" Eggshell, 4-1/4x6-1/4" Brown, and 4x6" Lt. Turquoise.
Faux Bamboo Tutorial
1. Trim a 2x5.5" strip of Lt. Green Plain. Score horizontally at random measurements.
2. Apply Moss ink to the raised score lines with a CS Ink Applicator.
3. Cut leaves from a Dk. Green scrap with a Fiskars Micro-Tip Scissors.
4. Trim the 2x5.5" scored paper into narrow strips of various sizes up to 1/4".
5. Cut the top and bottom edges of the strips at a diagonal with the micro-tip scissors. Cut three small triangular points into the edges of the strips.
6. Make a "test arrangement" of the leaves and stem.
7. Adhere the stems and leaves to the Lt. Turquoise card panel with the CS Glue Pen. Stamp a sentiment and add an Antique Coin embellishment. Nest the artwork onto the panels and card base.
