Texas Strong is a special edition kit we've been working on since returning from the Creating Keepsakes Expo in Houston. The landfall of hurricane Harvey just six weeks ago seems like a distant memory in the wake of everything that has happened since. Our hearts ache for those in Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Las Vegas.
It is tempting to become overwhelmed by the great needs that face us as a nation. But we can do something. We've chosen to partner with the Houston Food Bank. For the next two weeks or while supplies last, $5 of the sale of each Texas Strong collection will be donated to provide funding to this worthy cause.
I would like to thank Janet Moran and Rita Braun for their patience and calm presence while we dealt with our own evacuation from the area on August 26.
I am also grateful to The Woodlands Marriott for giving our booth supplies a safe home while we waited for normal shipping routes to be restored, to Robbie Scott for helping get those boxes routed to Arizona instead of Wisconsin, and to the Creating Keepsakes Expo team for making wise decisions about the show. The opportunity to teach workshops and meet many of you at our booth in Houston made the trip worthwhile!
Ann Diebel, thank you for all that you've already done to make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected in your area. Shona Gibson, you're in our thoughts and prayers as you sacrifice time with your family during longterm FEMA deployment in Houston. Let's take a look at this beautiful Texas Strong collection designed in short order by our very own Jacqueline Carney . . .
LAYOUTS 1 & 2
Trim the star shape from the Ivory cutapart and layer it onto the orange strip nested with metallic woven ribbon.
Draw attention to this beautiful sentiment with a piece of folded ribbon and a bronze paisley charm.
LAYOUTS 3 & 4
To set the bronze nailheads, place a piece of cork beneath the layout and press the prongs through the layers of paper. Flatten the prongs with the flat edge of a craft knife or outside edge of a scissor blade.
LAYOUTS 5 & 6
Staple ribbon to the top left corner of the cutapart. Tie a bow with rust jute onto the paisley charm and adhere to the lower right corner with CS® Bookbinding Glue.
LAYOUTS 7 & 8
Follow the page assembly instructions to trim a Rust panel perfectly sized for this tag. Simply cut the left corners at an angle to match. Punch a hole and tie with a jute bow, and finish with two bronze nailheads.
Thank you for joining us in support of those in need in a tangible way with your purchase of the Texas Strong collection through Friday, October 20!
We rise by lifting others,
