Create amazing backgrounds with inks, paints, chalks and more with the sunset blend technique challenge. Lisa and I had a blast coming up with lots of ways to make samples to coordinate perfectly with the Golden Hour collection.
Sunset Blend Technique
Julie's Cards - Hybrid Inks
Select hybrid inks in Amethyst, WOW Red, Tangerine, and Yellow.
Apply the lightest color of ink, in this case yellow, along the bottom of a white panel with an Ink Applicator Brush. Work in a circular motion.
Continue to apply inks in Tangerine, Red and Amethyst from bottom to top and overlapping colors to achieve the perfect blend.
Stamp images from the Golden Hour Stamps with India Ink and a stamp platform. This will ensure proper ink coverage. Trim the background as needed.
Adhere the panel to a folded card base layered with a purple mat. Let's take a look at the finished card.
The second card was created in a similar fashion. Substitute the white paper with a yellow panel. Mask off an area with a 2" punched circle and blend the ink colors as demonstrated in the first card. Remove the circle mask and add the wheat stencil to the foreground with India Ink.
Lisa's Card - Pan Pastels
Gather a variety of Pan Pastel colors. Lisa chose to work with Yellow Ochre, Orange, Permanent Red, and Violet Extra Dark.
Apply the Pan Pastels from bottom to top beginning with the lightest shade. Foam applicators create the perfect pastel blends.
Let's take a closer look at Lisa's card samples.
