Tricia constantly refines her efficient crafting methods, creating ways to update, upgrade or improve upon past projects. Our most recent upgrade resulted in a new online class, Twin Notecard Carriers.
The original Notecard Carrier project produced a single folio (and eight cards) from a half-sheet of folding board and seven 12x12 papers. The Twin Notecard version makes use of the second half-sheet of folding board and reallocates the supplies to make TWO Notecard Carriers and 16 cards from a single Card Kit* or Page Kit.
Sea Life Notecard Carriers
Tricia created the Twin Notecard Carriers below with the Sea Life Card Kit. Each carrier stores eight 4.25x5.5" cards with envelopes making them perfect for gifting!
The project instructions require twelve 12x12 papers. All of our monthly page kits include a dozen sheets of paper. Special Release page kits include 16 sheets.
*Our card kits contain anywhere from 9-12 sheets, so you'll need to gather the necessary number of 12x12 papers to bring the total up to twelve.
Getting Started
Begin with the purchase and download of the printable project instructions. The packing list included in the Sea Life Card Kit indicates it contains ten 12x12 papers. Since the instructions require a total of twelve, Tricia added two extra sheets of White Plain.
Therefore, to replicate Tricia's project, gather the supplies below:
- Sea Life Card Kit
- (2) 12x12 White
- Black Folding Board
- (6) Hook & Loop Dots
- (12) A2 Envelopes (four of this size are already included in the Card Kit)
Next, determine the paper assignments. Tricia utilized the following paper assignments for each step of the instructions:
- 1: Black Folding Board
- 2: (4) White Plain
- 3 & 4: Card Print
- 5: (2) Lt. Blue, (2) Dk. Blue, (2) Purple
Carriers
Choose a cutapart image (or sentiment) to serve as a focal point on the outside covers of the carriers. Tricia added a Lt. Blue strip to the front printed panel and topped it with a Puffy Shell and Marine Life Sticker.
Cards
Once both Notecard Carriers are assembled, it's time to design the cards.
Divide the card bases and panels into two groups—eight for each carrier. Decorate the cards with leftover papers, cutaparts, ribbons and other embellishments from the Sea Life Card Kit.
Dress up plain card panels with embossing folders for added texture, if desired. Try some of Tricia's many ribbon tricks, too!
Because you're making 16 cards instead of the usual twelve a typical card kit produces, you may run short of sentiments for a few of the cards. One option is to separate some of the sentiment "pairings" to really help stretch the supplies. Or you can opt to add inner and/or outer sentiments using stamps from your stash.
Most of the cards are very simple in design so completing the entire project quick and easy.
Repeating select card designs saves time and effort as well.
