How to make twin Cabana Notecard Carriers and 16 cards.

Create two great gifts from a single kit! This online class will show you how to transform any Card Kit and a few other supplies into Twin Notecard Carriers and 16 greeting cards. Each carrier is designed to store eight 4.25x5.5" cards, perfect for gifting—just add envelopes. I just love "twofers", don't you? 

While ideal for Christmas or birthdays, I like to have a few Notecard Carriers at the ready for impromptu gifts throughout the year.

For this project, I chose to make the outside covers of both carriers exactly the same. They are truly twins!

Getting Started

Begin with the purchase and download of the printable project instructions. The project requires twelve sheets of 12x12 paper. The quantity of paper included in our card kits will vary, anywhere from 9-12 sheets. Always refer to the enclosed packing list to determine if additional paper will be needed. If so, simply supplement with coordinating papers from your stash—when in doubt, plain white, ivory, black or gray are excellent options.

If you'd like to replicate my Cabana Twin Notecard Carriers, gather the following supplies:

Cabana Card Kit
Black Folding Board
(1) 12x12 Super Smooth White (to supplement the eleven sheets of paper included in the kit)
(6) Hook & Loop Dots
(12) A2 Envelopes (four of this size are already included in the Cabana Card Kit)

Once you've gathered your supplies, sort the available paper to determine the paper assignments—specifically which papers would be the best choice for constructing the folio pockets and tabs. If the papers vary in "weight", I recommend choosing the heavier or more sturdy sheets for this job. Once you've determined the paper assignments, follow the cutting, sorting and assembly instructions to make two carriers and 16 cards.

If you're interested in recreating my project, utilize the following paper assignments for each step of the instructions: 

• 1: Black Folding Board
• 2: (2) Lt. Blue, (2) Med. Blue
• 3 & 4: Card Print
• 5: (2) Dk. Blue, (2) Gold, (2) White

Once both Notecard Carriers are assembled, it's time to design the cards. Divide the card bases and panels into two groups—eight for each carrier. Decorate the cards with leftover papers, cutaparts and embellishments included in the Card Kit.

Modify the cutaparts as needed to fit the A2 size of each card. (Most card kits are designed to create four each of three different card sizes and style; therefore the card kit cutaparts are specifically designed to fit those sizes.)

Because you're making 16 cards instead of the usual 12 a card kit produces, you may run short of sentiments for a few of the cards. In several cases, I chose to divide some of the sentiment "pairings" and use them separately. (Another option is to add inner and outer sentiments using stamps from your existing collection.)

Add ribbons, Shell Dazzles Stickers, and charms to select cards as desired. Here's a look at the eight cards inside the second folio:
