Create vibrant backgrounds with the Reverse Stencil Technique and Club Scrap's Hybrid Inks. Gina K. shared this idea in a video recently and I couldn't wait to share it with Lisa. We were both amazed at how easy this look was to achieve.
Reverse Stencil Technique
Secure a piece of plain white paper to the Club Scrap Grid Paper Pad with a 6" length of thin washi tape. Use the grid to make sure the paper and washi tape are level. The washi tape performs two functions: First, to hold the panel in place while inking, and second, to mask off a small area to be used for sentiment placement later on.
Blend a rainbow of colors over the background using Club Scrap's Hybrid Inks. Apply Red, Tangerine, Yellow, Moss, Sapphire, and Amethyst using Ink Applicator Brushes.
Place a masking stencil over the inked background.
Apply a generous layer of India Ink through the stencil with an Ink Applicator Brush.
Pro tip: Make sure your ink pad has plenty of ink. A dried-out pad may not produce the desired results, which is why I have a re-inker on hand for each of my ink pads.
Remove the stencil to reveal the bold results!
Julie's Card - What's Up, Buttercup? Masking Stencil
Carefully remove the washi tape mask from the panel.
Align a Regatta greeting within the masked area, and stamp the sentiment using India Ink.
Use a die to cut the word 'friend' from the Lt. Purple side of the Petals Duplex paper. (Create three.)
Apply a thin layer of Bookbinding Glue (dispensed from a needle-tipped applicator) to each die cut, layering all three to form a stack.
Glue the die cut under the stamped sentiment.
