Create a useful yet beautiful panel storage box with the Prism collection and boxes rescued from the recycling bin. They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and I tend to agree. I love turning trash into treasure, or in this case, storage!

Panel Storage Box Tutorial

Seal the open ends of two sturdy empty boxes with Bookbinding Glue. Trim the boxes in half diagonally with a heavy duty craft knife. Spray paint the outside of the boxes with one coat of primer. Allow them to dry completely before moving onto the next step.

Cover the cut edges on the boxes with strips of Prism Silver Diamond Washi Tape.

Add glue to the side of one of the boxes.

Spread evenly with a foam brush.

Glue the two boxes together so they are positioned side by side.

Take the height and width measurements of all sides of the box. Gather papers from the Prism collection two Red Plains, Blue Plain, and Black Print. Trim the papers into rectangles sized to fit the measurements.

Lay a Red side panel over the angled cut. Draw a cutting guideline with a pencil and grid ruler.

Trim the panel along the guideline with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Cover the back of the box with a Red panel.

Cut a long Blue strip to cover the front of the boxes.

Add a nested Black print panel over the Blue and finish with matted labels.

Envelope Punch Tab Dividers

Gather twelve 4x7" white panels. Lay each panel vertically onto an Envelope Punch board at 4" and punch. Flip the panel over vertically and punch again at 4".

Lay a 2x8" Grid Ruler under the tabbed area finding the zero center. Write the name of each month onto the tab using the ruler as a guide. Tip: Count the number of letters in each word label. The middle letter will land on zero for words with an odd number of letters. Even-numbered words will have a space between the two center letters at zero.

Slide the dividers into the box in between each monthly collection's pack of panels.

Let's take another look at the finished project!
