With each special edition page kit release, we often receive inquiries about a card kit, too. Sometimes we do create bonus card cutaparts and prints, but not this time. That said--EVERY page kit can be transformed into fabulous cards! Keep reading to learn more about how I tramsformed the Mid Mod Page kit into a dozen fabulous greetings—I even had paper left over!
Mid Mod Cards
EVERY monthly card kit instruction document can be recycled! Simply substitute papers from the new page kit with a past card workshop to make twelve cards. Add sentiments with modified cutaparts and/or your own stamped sentiments.
How To
One of my favorite set of card instructions is the Boughs of Joy Card Kit. The format and style of the card formula made some really easy to assemble structures. You can download the written instructions HERE. I recommend watching the Boughs of Joy video workshop for extra tips and guidance.
Utilize the following paper assignments for each step of the instructions:
- Step 1: Blue, Green, Harvest Gold, Orange
- Step 2: Blue, Green, Harvest Gold, Orange
- Step 3: Bkue, Gold Metallic
- Step 4: Large Circles Print
- Step 5: Large Circles Print
- Step 6 & 7: Additional 12x12 Ivory Plain Required (Follow Cutapart trimming)
Follow the Mid Mod trimming instructions and diagrams for the Page Kit Cutaparts that came in the kit.
Finishing the Cards
Once the cutting and sorting is complete, it's time to "deal out" the trimmed pieces and dry fit each set of four cards. Select and trim the Mid Mod page cutaparts for use on the cards, if desired.
Before final assembly, add stamped artwork and sentiments (Round and Round 03.25) to the plain Ivory panels with Sapphire, Tangerine or Caramel ink.
Set A—4.25x5.5"
Trim cutapart border strips to nest onto the front of each card. Add the stamped sentiment, mat with the appropriate nesting panel, wrap with Orange satin ribbon topped with a Fabric Flower before adding to the card.
Set B—4.5x6.25"
Stamp the round sentiment onto the small Ivory panel with Sapphire ink; add a cropped cutapart border strip below. Inside, stamp the large collage image with Tangerine ink, and the "Thinking of you" sentiment (Architectural Elements 02.25) with Sapphire.
Set C—5x7"
Add trimmed Cutapart border strips to the front of each card. Add stamps sentiments to the outer and inner panels.
Bonus Card Storage
After trimming and assembling all twelve cards, I still had a few sheets of paper left over. Using the same skills I share in the Six Cards in a Drawer Online Class, I created two card box sleeves with drawers, using the following paper assignments:
- Paper A= Green (Box #1), Orange (Box #2)
- Paper B= Small Squares Print (use altered cutting diagram and instructions below)
By changing the cutting instructions for Paper B slightly, a single sheet of paper will yield two card box sleeves.
Cut Paper B at 6”.
Score each 6x12 at 2.75, 3.75, 8.375 (8-3/8) and 9.375 (9-3/8)”.
Once the papers are trimmed and scored, follow the "Box and Sleeve Assembly Steps" on page 3 of the Six Cards in a Drawer Instructions document. Install a silver Mini Knob on each drawer, if desired.
