Make simple but dramatic backgrounds for cards with the Circle Stencil Technique. Pair detailed line art image stamps with your favorite ink color combinations. They make lovely cards perfect for any occasion.

The finished size of each card below is 4.25x5.5", unless otherwise noted.

Circle Stencil Technique

To get started, gather the following items from your stash:

  • Circle Dies
  • Line Art Stamps
  • CS® Hybrid Ink
  • Ink Applicator Brush

Create a Homemade Stencil

Craft a homemade stencil with circle dies*. Position the die(s) onto a 5.5x8.5 white panel; leaving enough room between each shape as shown. Cut the shapes with a Sizzix cutting machine*.

Remove the dies from the panel. Remove the rounds from the panel and set aside for use in another crafty project.

Toile Panel How To

Stamp a detailed line art image (Toile 09.25) onto a white panel with Ash Ink.

Gather your homemade circle stencil.

Choose three coordinating ink colors, one for each size circle.

Position the stencil over the image, starting with the largest circle and lightest ink color. In this case, apply Leaf Ink through the largest opening with an Ink Applicator brush.

Apply Ocean ink to the second opening, overlapping the first.

Complete the blending with the smallest circle stencil and Amethyst Ink.

Stamp a sentiment with Ash Ink.

Autumn Glow Panel

Repeat the process above with Autumn Glow images stamped in Ash Ink.

Pair the gorgeous leaf images with fall-inspired ink colors: Earth, Red and Yellow.

Card Assembly

Trim the stamped panels as needed; mat with coordinating POPs (packs of panels) from your stash.
