Happy new year! I just finished assembling the Mariachi Page Kit and it's so colorful and fun - the perfect balm for this gray, dreary winter we're having. Mariachi Page Kit
Even though each Club Scrap Page Kit creates eight coordinating pages, it's rare that I use all of them for a single occasion or event. The page pairings could easily end up in different scrapbooks, or even arranged differently from the instructions. Therefore, when choosing photos, I try to view each two-page spread independently.
Layout 1 & 2
The Mariachi color palette and artwork is so fun and festive. Just looking at the pages make me happy! A quick craft knife trick creates dimension where the ribbon and border strip "disappear" behind the guitar. (Be sure to watch Tricia's assembly video for the "how to".)
My friend, Kristin, recently showed me photos of her family Christmas. The moment I saw them, I knew they'd be perfect on the Mariachi collection. Christmas IS a fiesta after all, especially when it includes Santa and nine adorable, and very excited, littles!
Need more room? Replace the cutapart next to the journaling box with a cropped photo. (I'll leave the journaling to Kristin!)
Layout 3 & 4
I love the red/blue combination in this two-page spread - it serves as a not-so-traditional palette for more of Kristin's Christmas photos.
Why mess with perfection? The original format of this layout was perfect as is, and the Mariachi fabric roses make the reds in the photos really pop!
Crop a single horizontal photo to 5-5/8 x 4" to span the space created by the two nested mats.
Layout 5 & 6
I love everything about this spread - so bright and cheerful!
The sentiments are perfect for photos from an evening celebrating with friends.
In lieu of three smaller photos, trim two horizontal photos to fit across the 3.75" square mats. (The left photo is cropped to 3.5x5-1/8" and the right, 3.5x6".)
Layout 7 & 8
Tricia incorporated more clever cuts with the craft knife on this layout.

Don't let a case of "verticalitis" get you down - trim two vertical photos to fit side-by-side onto a single horizontal mat. (In situations like this one, the 8x8 grid ruler is an indispensable tool to ensure successful photo-cropping.) An extra vertical photo tucks into the lower left corner - no mat needed!
