HOPES REMIX CARDS
While you can follow the page kit instructions to assemble eight pages, you can also transform the kit into twenty beautiful cards. How, you ask? By pairing the papers from the collection with card making formulas from Idea Deck Volume 5!
Idea Deck Volume 5 - Diamonds
If you already own the original card deck, great! If not, you can now get this valuable crafting resource in a downloadable format. Each suit includes thirteen formulas: Diamonds and Hearts are card making formulas, Clubs and Spades are for pages. (Warning: Long post ahead!)
Ace of Hearts
- A = Ivory Square Print
- B = Poppy Plain
- C = Brown Plain
8 of Hearts
- A = Ivory Circle Print
- B = Orange Plain
- C = Blue Plain
Add Nuvo Jewel Drops to select circles for added dimension. (I used Rosewater and Sea Breeze.)
The remaining two formulas included 8.5x11 papers. In both cases, I modified those cutting instructions to work with 12x12, with little or no waste.
4 of Hearts (with variation)
- A = Ivory Square Print
- B = Poppy Plain
- C = Blue Plain
- D = Orange Plain
Trim at 8.5". Cut 8.5x12 horizontally at 11 and 5.5". Trim the 1x8.5 horizontally at 5". Cut the 3.5x2 horizontally at 3.25". Score each 8.5x5.5 horizontally at 4.25". Score the 3.5x10 horizontally at 5". (This formula results in a 3.5x5" bonus card!)
And the "bonus" card:
Ace of Diamonds (with variation)
- A = Brown Plain
- B = Ivory Circle Print
Trim at 11, 10, 7 and 3.5". Cut both 3.5x12 horizontally at 10.5 and 5.25". Trim the 3 x 12 horizontally at 9.5 and 4.75".
Looking for a way to do some good with your cards? Tricia recently heard about a great organization, Girls Love Mail. They collect hand-written letters and notes of encouragement and send them to women newly-diagnosed with breast cancer. You can read more about their cause and guidelines on their website.
Whew! Thanks for making it to the end of my long post.
Happy card making!
