Yesterday's blog featured the Succulents Club Stamp collection and paper trimming instructions to make two purses and eleven cards. Let's learn how to make this adorable purse from just one sheet of 8.5x11 paper!
Paper Purse Tutorial
Score a sheet of 8.5x11 Succulents Dk. Green Plain vertically at 1.25 and 7.25". Score horizontally at 5/8, 4-7/8, 6-1/8 and 10-3/8". (The new Scor-Pal model with lines every 1/8" will make this project easier.)
Pierce a hole 2" from the left and right edges of each 5/8" tab. (See diagram above.)
Cut along the two center score lines, stopping at the closest intersecting score line to make a tab. Repeat on the other side. Consult the solid cutting lines in the diagram above.
Trim two .25x11 Succulents Wine Plains. Run the paper through your fingers to shape into a curve.
Loop one strip of paper in half and pierce through the center of the strip at the edge of the paper. Repeat for the second strip.
It just so happens that the washi tape included in the Succulents Deluxe kit is the perfect width for the purse flap. Add a strip to the 5/8" flaps and transfer the location of the pierced holes through the tape.
Attach the purse handles to the base with green mini brads.
Flip the purse over, apply adhesive to the 5/8" tab, and fold over to secure the decorative flap.
Repeat for the other side of the purse.
Flip the purse and fold along all score lines to create the side walls.
Apply adhesive to the outside of the short tabs, and to the inside of the long side walls on the front side of the purse.
Attach the short tabs to the side walls at the back of the purse.
Fold up the front of the purse and secure the side walls to the outside of the unit.
Decorate the outside of the purse with panels, if desired, or just leave it as it is. The opening in the purse will perfectly fit A2 envelopes and 4.25x5.5" cards.
