Let It Bee Remix Cards

Choosing a Formula

The first (and usually the most difficult) step is choosing from among the many card formulas Club Scrap has to offer. When selecting a formula, I base my decision on a number of factors, including the number of papers required, type of card style, etc.

I finally landed on the Terrific Twenty Cards download. I love Z-fold style cards, and they pair really well with border strip Cutaparts. Single-fold cards B and C are a simple design that allow for a lot of flexibility when adapting Page Kit Cutparts to cards.

Card Formula Prep

Our monthly page kits include twelve sheets of paper. Let It Bee Remix is a special release, so it has 16. The Terrific Twenty formula requires 12-14 papers.

I wanted to utilize all of the paper, so I trimmed one extra sheet for steps 5 and 7, as seen below.

Utilize the following paper assignments for each step in the instructions document:

1 - Gold Metallic
2 - Light Yellow
3 - Brown, Gold, Dark Yellow
4 - Gold, Light Yellow, White Linen
5 - (2) Brown, Dark Yellow (one extra paper)
6 - White Linen
7 - (2) Little Bee Print (one extra paper)
(2) Big Bee Print

After trimming and sorting the papers, trim the Cutaparts and pair them with the card styles that fit them best. Follow the photos provided in the instructions as inspiration for dry-fitting and assembly. The Terrific Twenty formula creates six each of three different card structures for a total of eighteen cards. Trimming those two extra papers mentioned above makes six more - that's a whopping 24 cards total!

Set A - (6) 4.25x5.5" Z-fold Cards

Let It Bee Z-fold Cards

This Z-fold style card works perfectly with the Border Strips included most Page Kits.

Simply measure and trim to the desired size for each section of the Z-fold mechanism.

When you run short of pre-printed Cutaparts, don't be afraid to add stamping. You say you don't have bee stamps? As luck would have it, we are bringing the original Let It Bee stamp sheet back for a very limited time! Grab yours while they last!

Set B - (9) 4.25x5.5" Single-fold (Small Nesting Panels)

A length of ribbon adds contrast and a bit of texture to these simple, yet fun cards. Adhere the "BUZZ" tags with Foam Adhesive Circles.

Staple Yellow Satin ribbon to the top of the sentiment tag. Stamp the "bee's knees" sentiment onto the plain side of a printed panel accented with the sweet li'l bee charm.

Interlock two loops of gold ribbon, wrap the ends around the back of the sentiment panel and secure with tape. Tie the honeycomb charm to the ribbon with Baker's Twine. Wrap more Baker's Twine around the top of the canning jar Kraft Tag and adhere with Foam Adhesive Circles.

When nesting the panels and strips, don't be afraid to mix up the layers for added interest.

Set C - (9) 4.25x5.5" Single-fold Cards (Large Nesting Panels)

Knot two lengths of Baker's Twine together and tape the ends to the back of the brown panel. Trim the sentiment Cutapart to fit the height of the panel, and add a gold bee charm.

Carefully divide the "Advice from a honeybee..." Cutapart into sections with a trimmer. Reassemble the sentiment on the front of the card. Top a Honeycomb Woodcut with a gold bee coin charm.

Add the collage image onto the Gold Metallic Panel with India ink. Stamp the large bee image onto a scrap of white; color with pencils. Fussy cut the image and adhere to the card with foam adhesive. Add Earth ink to a trio of Honeycomb Woodcuts with an Ink Applicator Brush and adhere to the card.

Crop the clover image to nest onto the card panel with a 1/4" reveal. Add a leftover sentiment from the "Advice from..." Cutapart below.

Crop the honey definition Cutapart to 4x5.25"; adhere to the card base. Trim the ends of a paper strip and "sweet as can bee" cutapart into a V-shape. Nest the two and add to the panel.

Trim the ends of a scrap of gold ribbon at an angle. Staple to the top of the sentiment tag. Add Earth ink to a trio of Honeycomb Woodcuts with an Ink Applicator Brush and adhere to the card.

Add the "world" sentiment onto Yellow and Metallic Gold card panels with India ink.

Repeatedly stamp the honeycomb image with Earth ink on the Yellow panel. Stamp two large honey bee images onto a white scrap. Color with pencils or markers. Cut out each bee with detail scissors and adhere to the card panels with foam adhesive.

Create a gorgeous herringbone background with double-sided adhesive (or Bookbinding Glue if you work fast) and leftover trimmed paper strips. Use a paper distressing tool on the edges of the "honey" Cutapart before adhering to the herringbone panel. Stamp "BEE yourself" onto a white scrap, trim the ends into a V-shape, and add to the card.
