With August Retreat 2018 in full swing I'm thinking about last year's projects and workshops. One of my favorite classes was Block Printing.
Terri Zwicker taught this laid-back relaxing class and gave us some extra play time later that day. Those block printed panels ended up being my Christmas cards last year. A little non-traditional, but fun for my artsy friends.
The Block Printing Workshop kit is still available in the Club Scrap store. To be honest, it's worth paying five dollars just to be entertained by Terri and Bob during the video tutorial! (Full length video tutorial is included in your purchase.) You can catch a sneak peek below:
I recently fell in love with sunburst stamped images. July's NBUS (Never Been Used Stuff) challenge on the Facebook Chat Group was to use sun images in our projects. Knitter Pam encouraged me to make a sunburst image using block printing techniques. July came and went, but I still didn't give up on the idea!
SUNBURST BLOCK PRINTING
Start with a craft foam sheet and book board.
Cut a circle and "rays". Adhere to book board with bookbinding glue. Trim excess foam from block. Score lines and squiggles into craft foam with a craft knife.
Paint on acrylic or chalk paint using a brayer.
Place your paper panel on top of painted foam and rub the panel to get paint to adhere. Carefully pull off image.
Set aside to dry. Trim down panels to desired size. Stamp and embellish.
I can't wait until October's Retreat to see what fabulous workshops Club Scrap has in store for us this year!
