Use Club Scrap card making formulas to transform the Happy Hour special release page kit into a sassy set of cards, perfect for sharing with girlfriends.

When I was tasked with creating cards from the Happy Hour kit, I immediately thought "girls night". And a night with the girls inspired the idea of creating a set of cards with adorable "purses" for gifting.

Choosing the Formula

Club Scrap's Deluxe Card Formula #7 creates twelve greeting cards and two gift purses with handles from eleven sheets of paper. Since our special release kits include 16 sheets of paper, I was able to make six BONUS cards from the extra papers by simply repeating two of the steps in the instructions.

Begin by downloading Deluxe Card Formula #7. Next, sort the papers from the Happy Hour kit in the order they'll be trimmed. I've listed the papers used for each step of the trimming instructions below:

1. Trim one Red and one Purple to create the base of each purse.

2. Place the Cocktail Print into the trimmer with the cocktails on the right. Cut at 11.5. Rotate the paper 180 degrees, so the cocktails are on the left. Follow the remaining steps per the instructions.

3. Trim the following papers: (2) Orange, (2) Yellow, (2) Black, (1) Purple, (1) Red, (1) Burgundy.

4. Cut (2) Bubble Print, (1) Cocktail Print and (1) White. The white can be used to line the inside of the dark card bases.

Assembly Tips

After all of the paper cutting is complete, assemble the purses according to the instructions.

Happy Hour Cards in Gift Purses

Thread a Rhinestone Buckle onto a length of black velvet ribbon. Wrap around the top portion of each purse.

"Deal out" the card bases and panels for all eighteen cards. (Set six aside for later.)

Cards 1-12

Trim the cutaparts using the artwork as a guide. You should have enough art/sentiments to complete at least twelve cards. Additional trimming may be needed to customize the fit.

For a fun twist, create three gate fold cards in lieu of the single fold style.

Score three of the 8.5x5.5" card bases at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" to create gate fold cards. Trim each of the three 4x5.25" panels into two 1-7/8x5.25" pieces. Use 1.5x12" scraps to create a belly band for each card. Top each belly band with the round Cutapart artwork.

Bonus Cards 1-6

Even after you've used up most of the Cutapart artwork, you'll still have supplies left over to complete six more cards. Just add stamped (or stenciled) sentiments.

I used the Hooray stencil and stamped sentiments from Surprise (01.18).

I'm so happy with the results of this project. Each purse holds six cards and envelopes - so even after gifting the two card sets, I still have six cards left over to send to my friends. I hope I've inspired you to pair Club Scrap card formulas with your favorite special release.

Happy card making!
