Create gorgeous artwork with Gossamer stamps! What is it about the shimmer of a dragonfly's wings or the glimmer of fireflies at night? The term "gossamer" evokes imagery that captures the delicate nature of these unique insects.

Gossamer Stamped Cards

Card 1 - Glow Stamping

I shared a new technique last month - visit this blog post to learn more about the glow stamping technique. I used similar steps to make the card below: Stamp the round glow image repeatedly onto dark paper with White Pigment Ink. Clean the ink from the image, then stamp again with with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide.

Place the panel into a stamping platform. Stamp the sentiment on the bottom of the panel in White Pigment Ink.

Keeping the sentiment in place, switch to Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink and stamp the sentiment again.

Position the large firefly over one of the glow images; stamp with India Ink.

Add details and highlights with a white gel pen.

Card 2

Repeat the glow technique with the sentiment and dragonfly stamps on a black paper panel. Be sure to clean the stamp between the White Pigment Ink and Distress Ink applications.

Cover the word "just" with a Post-it note mask and add Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide to the word "GLOW".

Remove the mask and stamp over the pigment ink.

Repeat this process with the Dusty Concord Distress Oxide ink. This time, cover the word "GLOW" with the Post-it mask before applying the ink to the stamps.

Stamp over the pigment inked images to create a gorgeous glow!

Card 3

Stamp the large dragonfly onto a white panel in Red, Tangerine, Yellow, Moss, Sapphire and Amethyst Club Scrap Hybrid Inks.

Stamp the sentiment in Amethyst Ink on small white panel. Mat with dark purple, wrap with twine, and adhere to the front of the card.

Card 4

Place the large dragonfly in a stamping platform, ink the image with India ink, and stamp onto white mixed media paper. (Do not remove the stamp from the platform.)

Apply Distress Ink (Villainous Potion, Chipped Sapphire) to the panel with an Ink Applicator Brush. (This technique works best with darker inks.)

Dip a paint brush in water and brush over the ink on the wings.

Dab the wet panel with a dry paper towel to remove the water-activated ink.

Return the panel to the stamping platform, re-ink the image, and stamp to define the wing details.

Dip a splatter brush in water and tap it over the panel. Apply dry paper towel to the panel to remove the water-activated ink.

Mix purple Perfect Pearls with water...

...and paint over the wings to add a bit of shimmer.

Stamp the sentiment in India Ink to complete the card.

Card 5

Stamp the large dragonfly with White Pigment Ink, sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat set to melt. Fussy cut the image with detail scissors.

Stamp the sentiment in Amethyst Ink.

Trim Foam Adhesive Circles and add to the back of the dragonfly.

Adhere above the sentiment to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of cards made with the Gossamer Stamps. Join me tomorrow as I share more cards - this time featuring Peerless Watercolors.

Happy stamping!
