Create fun and unique altered embellishments from all sorts of goodies in your stash! Let's take those ordinary embellies and kick them up a notch.
I have a confession to make. I have a fondness for all sorts of embellishments. When I first joined Club Scrap® ten years ago, it was the array of goodies that came in the embellishment packs that won me over. Fibers, tags, charms, buttons, brads . . . you name it, I love it!
Altered Embellishments
Washi Tape
Turn a simple roll of washi tape into adorable banners or flags.
Wrap around a strand of thread adhering the sticky sides together to capture the thread between the layers.
Trim the tape into any banner or flag shape with scissors.
Create all sorts of shapes and sizes with a variety of tapes.
Buttons, Beads and Baubles
Transform these beauties into coordinating adornments for cards, pages, and even projects.
Combine Homestead (2014) buttons, leaf brads, and Moroccan Spice (2015) sequins to make adorable accents.
Create a cluster with Steamworks (2018) fibers, sequins, punched paper flowers, and items from your stash.
Combine the tiniest of goodies into one fabulous embellishment.
Adhere Shades of Winter (2016) snowflakes and Clipboard Collage (Retreat 2017) teeny tags onto Bold Blooms (2012) bottle caps with Bookbinding Glue dispensed with a Needle-tipped Applicator.
Glue a Comfort Zone (2011) key to a Trees (2014) kraft leaf tag stamped with a Tapestry image in Earth ink. Tie with Lavender Fields (2018) fibers and a cotton twine bow.
Altering Tags, Metal, and Wood Embellishments
Add color and interest to these goodies with embossing powders or acrylic paints.
Chipboard Tags - Cover one side of a Trattoria (2017) tag with Versamark Ink.
Sprinkle with Copper Foil Embossing powder and heat set to melt.
Cover the embossed copper powder side of the tag into the Versamark and heat to melt.
Repeat these steps two more times creating a thick layer of melted embossing powder. Prior to the final melting step, spritz the Tapestry stamp with water and set aside.
Press the wet stamp into the hot melted powder and quickly remove.
Metal Charms - Paint an Enchanted Forest (Retreat 2015) Mini Mushroom charm with blue and white acrylics to coordinate with the tag art.
Wood Laser Cuts - Cover the Seabreeze woodcut with crackle paint and Woven Strands (2015) rhinestones.
