Create cards with left over paper scraps. We all can relate—Club Scrap® fans have the urge to keep every scrap—our papers are that good. The solution? Why not try the Accent Strips technique!

Gather your favorite Inks, some large image stamps, a bundle of skinny paper scraps and let's get crafting!

The finished size of each card below is 4.25x5.5", unless otherwise noted.

Accent Strips Technique

Tutorial

To get started. gather 1/4" scrap strips in Northwoods Green, Gray, Blue and Brown.

Adhere horizontally across the middle of a white panel with Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator.

Stamp the framed birch tree image over the panel with Earth Ink.

Ink the stamp again as needed and press firmly over the strips to transfer the image completely.

Trim the accent strips that extend beyond the edges of the panel with scissors.

Due to the thickness of the accent strips, there may be a slight gap where the ink doesn't touch the white paper—this is totally normal and acceptable.

Trim the stamped panel to 3-1/2x4-3/4" and add a sentiment to the open space beneath the strips with Sapphire Ink. Nest the stamped panel onto a 4x5-1/4" Rice Paper panel and add to the front of a folded Blue card base.

Alternative Technique

This alternative technique will eliminate the gap left during the stamping process above.

Stamp the the birch image onto a 3-1/2x4-3/4" white panel with Earth Ink. Leave the stamp on the lid of the stamping platform.

Remove the panel from the platform; adhere the strips across the center of the white panel.

Trim the excess strips flush with the edge of the white panel with scissors.

Place the white panel back into the original position in the stamping platform.

Apply more Earth Ink to the stamp and close the lid to transfer the image to the strips.

Add the sentiment to complete the panel.

Dahlia Card—Lisa

Lisa paired the large Dahlia image (04.16) with the Accent Strips Technique. The image and sentiment (Impressed stamps 11.25) are both inked with Wine CS® Hybrid Ink.

We hope you will give this technique a try.
