I always look forward to AnneMarie's Card Sketch Challenge and seeing what everyone posts. Some participants dive right in and use their digital kits to make a card before their paper kit hits the doorstep.
Here's the sketch for May:
In my never-ending quest to use paper and time efficiently, I've developed a simple sketch to make a batch of four cards. Here's the rough draft of the sketch in my handy-dandy graph paper notebook:
I don't want you to suffer through trying to figure out that mess. Here is the real deal:
Select four different colors of 8.5x11 paper. (I chose the 8.5x11" Grey Plain, Grey Print, Powder Blue Plain and Denim Plain from The Blues.)
1. Trim each paper horizontally at 10.75 and 5.5". Set aside the 5.5x8.5 piece. Cut the 5.25x8.5 horizontally 6.5 and 4". Trim the 2x5.25 horizontally at 3.75 and 2". Cut the 1.75x2 horizontally at 1.75".
TIP: When trimming the smallest piece, I find it helpful to slide the paper down to the middle of the trimmer base where there is a second set of measurements. Use the printed grid to properly align the paper. I have more visibility and paper stability in that location.
2. Score each 5.5x8.5 horizontally at 4.25" and fold to create four card bases.
3. Organize and distribute the pieces according to the sketch, alternating colors.
4. Add stamped images and embellishments to the cards. Stamps: The Blues Collection and Art Nouveau UM
5. Clean up the mess. Dispose of miniscule paper scraps.
6. Go post your results!
