I'm sure most folks would look at Club Scrap's June collection and immediately feel limited by the theme and color palette. But just like a favorite pair of blue jeans, the Vintage Americana layouts can be used to scrap just about any occasion. No fireworks necessary!
VINTAGE AMERICANA LAYOUTS
Case in point: Would you have thought to scrap Thanksgiving photos on the June page kit? It turns out the colors and family-oriented sentiments of Vintage Americana are an ideal match for my photos. We always have two Thanksgiving celebrations - one with my husband's family, and one with my parents and sister. The reds in the table setting inspired the pairing.
A tall, narrow photo fits the open space in the lower right corner of the page.
It was so nice of the Wyngaards to dress in coordinating colors. See how well the colors in the photos match the papers?
The next layout features photos of my parents in the early days of their marriage. Dad was an MP stationed in the Canal Zone. My maternal grandfather was a colonel in the army stationed in Panama as well. Mom finished high school there. They met on base, and the rest is history!
The cutapart at the top of the page can also serve as a photo mat when the situation calls for it.
Finally, more photos of my father from his military days . . . aren't the sentiments perfect?
I can't stress enough how important "thinking outside the box" can be when it comes to our kits. Ignoring the theme frees you to complete more pages than ever. It's the secret to my success!
