Create a set of gorgeous cards featuring the Under the Sea Stamps paired a variety of mixed media background techniques. I am in love with this set and cannot wait to share how all of these cards came together.

Under the Sea Stamps

Card 1

Under the Sea Stamps #clubscrap #gelliarts

Add the octopus image to a card base with India Ink using a stamp positioning platform. Do not remove the stamp from the positioner.

Adhere the alcohol ink gelli print panel to the card base, ink the stamp again, and make another impression over the gelli print.

Add the stamped sentiment to complete the card.

Card 2

Add alcohol ink to Yupo paper. Add isopropyl alcohol dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator and move the colors with blown air.

Flick isopropyl alcohol droplets over the panel to create texture.

Press a clean jellyfish stamp onto panel to to "lift" ink and stamp onto a clay coated glossy panel. Note: This combination of papers works the best when lifting the ink.

Blot the panel with a clean paper towel until no alcohol ink remains where the stamped image appears.

Card 3

Blend Distress Inks (Black Soot and Faded Jeans) on a white panel using Ink Applicator Brushes.

Stamp the whale image in India Ink onto the background panel.

Since Distress Inks react with water, "paint" over the whale image with a water brush. Once the ink is "activated", dab the image lightly with a dry paper towel to remove some of the color.

Stamp the whale onto Frisket Film, and fussy cut the image. Use the film as a mask to cover the stamped whale. Apply a layer of Black Soot Distress Ink around the whale to create a shadow.

With the mask still in place, sprinkle water over the entire panel to create a mottled background. Remove any access water with a dry paper towel.

Remove the mask and add details with a black fine-tipped journaling marker and white gel pen.

To complete the card, add a stamped sentiment and accent the card with clear sequins using Bookbinding Glue dispensed with a Needle-tipped Applicator.

Card 4

Make a custom ink pad with Sapphire, Leaf, and Ocean reinkers.

Stamp a repeating pattern with the sea star images on a white panel.

Add Tropicale Shaker Confetti and a stamped sentiment to complete the card.

Card 5

Create a seaweed border along the bottom edge of an aqua panel using Spruce hybrid ink.

Apply Ocean Ink to the sea turtle image, "stamp off" on a piece of scratch paper and then stamp onto the background panel. Stamp the jellyfish in Ocean and the sea horse in Earth ink. Add a soft halo of color around the edges of the panel with Sapphire ink applied with an Ink Applicator Brush.

Color in the sea horse and seaweed with markers and pencils.

Add fine details with a black fine tipped journaling marker and white gel pen. Tropicale Shaker Confetti mimics the look of bubbles.

Card 6

Add a variety of alcohol inks to a 6x6 gel printing plate. Lay the Dahlia Remix Jumbo Floral Stencil over the wet ink and allow to dry.

Remove the inky stencil and set aside. Allow any remaining wet ink to dry before moving on to the next step.

Squeeze a small amount of white acrylic paint onto the plate.

Roll the paint evenly over the entire surface with a brayer.

Place a 6x6 white paper onto the paint and smooth evenly using the palm of your hand.

Carefully lift the panel to reveal the print.

Squeeze Alcohol Blending solution over the surface of the plate with a brayer. Lay the inky side of the stencil down onto the plate to reactivate the inks. Brayer over the surface to spread out the inks.

Let the ink dry, remove the stencil, and repeat the acrylic paint application steps above. Place a 6x6 Aqua paper onto the wet acrylic paint. Rub with the palm of your hand and pull a second print. (This second lighter panel was used as the background in Card 1.)

Stamp the jellyfish multiple times onto a white panel with Ocean Ink. Pair with a sentiment adhered with foam adhesive. (Karen remarked that the gel print background looked like sea kelp!)

I hope this inspires you to try some unique stamping and background techniques with the Under the Sea collection.

Happy stamping!
