Create beautiful borders and awesome accents with the Twisted Ribbons technique. Lisa and I had so much fun learning this process - we couldn't wait to share it with you! There a ton of amazing tutorials for this technique on Pinterest, and this video made learning it a snap. (The instructor begins the process just before 5 minute mark.)

Twisted Ribbons Tutorial - Mariachi Split-front Card

Gather coordinating paper scraps and trim them to 1/2" wide. (Or trim strips from the Mariachi Pack of Panels.)

Begin by placing a grid ruler over your chosen card panel; make a pencil mark every 1/2" across the top and bottom.

Position the first 1/2" wide Mariachi Blue strip so one end is flush with the corner of the top of the panel, and the other lands between the first and second pencil marks on the bottom. Adhere the strip with Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator.

Adhere another Blue strip between pencil marks #2 and #3 at the top of the panel and marks #3 and #4 at the bottom. Note: You may find it easier to add the Bookbinding Glue directly to the panel before placing the next strip. Repeat these steps until you reach the the bottom corner of the panel.

Decorate select blue strips with images from the Mariachi stamp sheet. Position each stamped strip to criss-cross the plain strips on the panel, adhering each with Bookbinding glue.

Trim excess paper extending beyond the top and bottom edges of the panel with a Paper Trimmer. Now the panel is ready to embellish a card, scrapbook page, or other project!

I chose to showcase the panel on the inside of a split-front card base.

Here's a look at the finished card.
