Tricia taught the Interactive Handmade Album workshop at the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Michigan earlier this year. After purchasing the class kit and making the Happy Life version, I saved the printed instructions, figuring I'd want to make another at some point in the future. Well the future is now!
I recently scrapped my photos from the Chaffey family reunion on the Toile Page Kit. However, I wanted to make an album to preserve those same photos for my dad—something smaller and more portable. This 6x8" book structure is the perfect size to commemorate the occasion.

Once you've downloaded the written instructions, utilize the paper substitutions below as you sort and trim your papers. (Or you can always do your own thing!)
Paper A = Dk. Blue
Paper B = Tan
Paper C = Gray
Paper D = Lt. Blue
Paper E = Dk. Blue Print
Paper F = Lt. Blue Print
You'll also need two 12x12 White, along with 30" of elastic cord and a large button if you want to create the optional book closure. As much as I love the idea of the elastic closure, I chose to skip it on this particular book to make it easy for Dad to share with others. (A missing closure one less thing for him to worry about.)
Book Assembly
My best advice? Make sure you follow along with the video tutorial—with the help of Tricia's concise step-by-step guidance, you'll be super-impressed with yourself when the project is completed.
Embellish
Once you've completed assembly, it's time to decorate and fill your album with memories.
I chose the Lt. Blue Print for the covers. Trim the oval cutapart sentiment close to the text and mat with White. Accent with one of the Embroidered Butterflies included in the kit. Dark Blue ribbon covers the seam where the two cover papers meet. Note: If you decide to add the ribbon, you'll need to plan ahead, as it needs to be added BEFORE gluing the printed inside covers.
Crop the "family" cutapart to the same height as the inside cover paper. Add matted cutapart artwork accented with another embroidered butterfly.
Decorate the flaps of the inside pages with cutaparts, photos and a silver setting topped with an epoxy sticker.
Don't be afraid to really gussy-up inside the flaps as well. The wide hinges between pages allows for plenty of expansion so you can load the book with photos, mats and layers as desired.
