I've always admired cards with a decorative border, so when I saw the flourishes and other image stamps in the Celebrate collection, I was inspired to revisit this technique.

To get started, gather your supplies: Stamps, ink, a sharp craft knife and cutting mat. The key is to stamp the border images along the long (open) edge of your card. Use the craft knife to trim away the excess card stock while following the border design.

The front of the card features the large flourish from the Art Nouveau UM stamped in Lagoon Hybrid Ink, and a sentiment from the Jumbo UM stamped in Ash. The best way to "show off" your craft knife skills is to add a contrasting strip along the interior edge of your card. I added the mini sentiment from the Greeting UM at the bottom of the strip.

Here I added glitter glue "bling" to the Art Nouveau medallion image, and White Gelato "splatter" with a water brush. The sentiment is from the Greeting UM.

The Bottle Cap makes a charming decorative accent on my final card. The mini "Happy Birthday" stamp and smaller flourish used for the border are from the Celebrate Greeting UM.

I think the decorative borders on these cards are well worth the extra bit of effort, don't you?
