Create a seashore inspired version of the Explorer's Box project from the 2019 Cruise collection. I couldn't wait make to this super cool keepsake box in a deep ocean blue color palette.
Seashore Inspired Explorer's Box
Assemble the Explorer's Box Components project by following the detailed instructions. Make chipboard shells, seahorse, sand dollar and sea stars with Sizzix dies and a Big Shot cutting system.
Laminate several of the die cut shapes together with Bookbinding Glue to achieve a multilayered look. The foreground die cuts will require more layers of chipboard than the background shapes.
Trim and remove any overlapping areas of chipboard to allow the shapes to lay flush on one another when adhered to the front cover.
Adhere these pieces together with Bookbinding Glue dispensed with a Needle-tipped Applicator and then glue to the box cover.
Choose a colorful tissue paper to coordinate with the paint colors. The tissue paper I'd selected for this project was too short. To solve the problem, apply a thin line of Bookbinding Glue to one short edge of tissue and adhere it to a second piece to create one long length of tissue.
Follow the steps in the instructions and video tutorial to prepare the tissue and wrap the exterior of the box.
Brush the raised surfaces with Titanium White acrylic paint to make the die-cuts and box details POP!
Cover the inside of the box with Bottle Boutique collage papers.
Substitute silver hardware to coordinate with the cool color palette.
This beautiful box is home to the equally amazing Explorer's Journal project. I trimmed pieces of thick white watercolor paper following the detailed cutting instructions included with the purchase of this workshop kit.
I decorated the journal with items from the Ports of Call Page Kit and laser cut wood shapes from my stash.
I can't wait to fill them with photos and souvenirs from our 2019 Club Scrap Anniversary Cruise.
Happy Crafting!
