Create a Petals watercolor panel with the stamp set, silver embossing powder, and a delicate blue and pink color palette. The Petals artwork is perfect for this paint style! I love the transparent nature of watercolors and how it blends beautifully with the imagery. The silver embossing takes it over the top.
Petals Watercolor How-to
Stamp several floral images onto a white panel using White Pigment Ink.
Cover the wet ink with silver embossing powder.
Heat set to melt the powder.
Stamp additional leaf images with White Pigment Ink.
Repeat the silver embossing steps above.
Use a water brush to apply watercolor paint to the center of each flower. (I love how the raised embossing contains the paint inside the stamped image.)
Use the wet brush to pull color from the center of the flower out to the tips of the petals to create visual dimension.
Continue to paint the flowers with shade of blue and pink. Apply various shades of green to color the leaves.
Water down black paint to create a gray hue. Dip the brush in the gray paint, creating shadows on the artwork. Add more gray to the brush and tap over the entire panel to create a speckled background.
Add the sentiment to the panel using India Ink.
Completing the Card
Gather papers that compliment the watercolor palette. I chose to work with a Galaxy Blue and What's Up, Buttercup? Pink.
Mat the watercolor panel with Pink and adhere to the front of a Blue folded card base. Stamp a sentiment inside the card using the silver embossing steps explained above.
Let's take another look at the finished card.
I hope you will give this watercoloring technique a try! If you do, I invite you to share your artwork with Club Scrap's Facebook Chat Group. See you there!
