Create a card panel, artsy background, or scrapbook page embellishment with the Patchwork Scraps technique. Lisa and I had so much fun making these unique works of art. We both chose to feature Surf Shop stamps and papers in our samples. However, the technique offers endless potential when it's paired with different color palettes or kit themes.
Patchwork Scraps Tutorial
Gather an assortment of stamped and printed paper scraps from the Surf Shop collection.
Trim the scraps to create a number of smaller pieces - size does not matter.
Select any sized panel from your stash of POPs (Pack of Panels) to create a base for the patchwork. Sort the trimmed scraps to cover the base, until you are pleased with the arrangement.
Distress the edges of each patchwork piece with Earth Ink.
Transfer the scraps to the panel with Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator.
Position the very first piece flush with one edge of the panel and continue to add patches until the entire surface is covered. (It is perfectly fine to have some open areas along the edges - these can be trimmed off in the next step.)
Once all the pieces are glued into place, trim the panel to fit the front of a card.
Surf Shop Card - Julie
To create the card, distress the entire perimeter of the panel with Earth Ink. Fussy cut a surfboard image from the Surf Shop Cutaparts. Add loops of ribbon with tape and apply foam adhesive circles to the back side.
Mat the patchwork element and center onto a card base. Embellish with the fussy cut surfboard layered with more ribbons.
Surf Shop Card - Lisa
Lisa created a patchwork from die cut squares of printed paper and stamped scraps. Rearrange the squares onto a scrap panel base until satisfied with the results. Transfer the pieces to the base panel with Bookbinding Glue. Trim the finished patchwork design to fit a card base.
Embellish the card with die cut flower shapes paired with a stamped sentiment.
