As Tricia refines her efficient crafting methods, we find ways to update, upgrade or improve upon past projects. One of our most recent updates resulted in a new online class, Twin Notecard Carriers. I recently constructed the project featuring the Nantucket collection.
The original Notecard Carrier project was a single folio (and eight cards) created from a half-sheet of folding board and seven 12x12 papers. This freshened-up version of the project makes use of the second half-sheet of folding board and pares down the supplies so only six 12x12s are needed to create the folio and cards. Now you can make TWO Notecard Carriers and 16 cards from a single Card Kit* or Page Kit. I just love two-fers, don't you?

These Twin Notecard Carriers are designed to each store eight 4.25x5.5" cards, perfect for gifting—just add A2 envelopes!
The project instructions require twelve 12x12 papers. As luck would have it, all of our monthly page kits include a dozen sheets of paper. Our card kits contain anywhere from 9-12 sheets, so additional papers can be used to supplement a card kit to bring the total up to twelve.
Getting Started
Begin with the purchase and download of the printable project instructions. If you'd like to duplicate my finished project, gather the following supplies:
Nantucket Card Kit
Kraft Folding Board
(6) Hook & Loop Dots
(12) A2 Envelopes (four of this size are already included in the Card Kit)
Once you've gathered your supplies, sort the available paper to determine the paper assignments—specifically which papers would be the best choice for constructing the folio pockets and tabs. If the papers vary in "weight", I recommend choosing the heavier or more sturdy sheets for this job. Once you've determined the paper assignments, follow the cutting, sorting and assembly instructions to make two carriers and 16 cards.
The packing list included in the Nantucket Card Kit indicates there are ten 12x12s and two 8.5x11 White papers in the kit, for a total of twelve papers. With a slight adjustment during the trimming process, I was able to make those 8.5x11 papers work.
To replicate my project, utilize the following paper assignments for each step of the instructions:
- 1: Kraft Folding Board
- 2: (2) Kraft, (2) Dk. Blue
- 3 & 4: Card Print
- 5: (2) Lt. Blue, (2) Red, (2) 8.5x11 White
Once both Notecard Carriers are assembled, it's time to design the cards. Divide the card bases and panels into two groups—eight for each carrier. Decorate the cards with leftover papers, cutaparts and embellishments from the Card Kit.

Choose a cutapart image and/or sentiment to serve as a focal point on the outside cover of the carrier.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I referred to the Nantucket Card Kit Instructions for inspiration when choosing sentiments and embellishments for each card.
Add snippets of ribbon to select tags with staples for a fun twist. Star Dazzles stickers add a touch of sparkle to many of the cards.

Another large image cutapart decorates the front of the second carrier with a sentiment strip accent.
Because you're making 16 cards instead of the usual twelve a typical card kit produces, you may run short of sentiments for a few of the cards. In several cases, I chose to divvy-up some of the sentiment "pairings" for use on separate cards to really help stretch the supplies. Another option is to add inner and outer sentiments using stamps from your stash.

Most of the cards are very simple in design, making completing the entire project quick and easy.
